I don't get why adblockers are allowed, seeing as websites can only keep going when people click ads. Surely if everyone downloaded these adblocker things, then it would effectively ruin the internet and only premium, subscription websites would remain.

I find ads quite humorous (especially on this site) so I would have no reason to block them.

I'm glad you're taking such a lighthearted stance on this contest, Tom. And buying something from the store is a good alternative way to support the site. I would, however, like to contest what you're doing.

I get up and fix something to eat during a commercial break or often change channels. I go to the theater late so I don't have to watch the ads and can just watch the movie. I use callerID to screen strange numbers so I don't have to deal with telemarketers. And, yes, I run adblock for all the websites I visit. Are you not guilty of any one of these things?

The whole reason someone runs adblocker is because they aren't interested in the ads. So by finding ways to get around adblocker, you're targeting an audience who doesn't want your business in the first place. Does that make sense?

I mean, you make a living off two things. Random flash artists submitting expense free content that generates interest for the site, and jamming products into peoples faces. BUT HEY - everybody plugs ads into everything anymore, and it sure beats working two jobs. But I think that whether people want to view those ads is their choice... and why shouldn't it be? Viewing the site is free. If they're not interested, they're not obligated.

In your quest to sound arrogant and obnoxious, you missed the part where Tom said the ad blockers break the wide layout. This is merely a creative way of rectifying the situation.

Since everyone wants to toss their two-cents in, why don't I go ahead and bring the count to what, like $0.40 now? For all of you out there who want to block the ads, you're robbing the site of revenue, which puts cash in the pockets of the staff, and guess what!?! The staff doesn't like having their hard earned money taken! So if you want to continue to use this site, which by the way, is provided free of charge, why the hell not pay those who slave over a keyboard to provide you guys with a fun site to hang out on!?! Hmmmm? It's at no personal cost to you, and these ads aren't HARMFUL in ANY way! So how 'bout you stop complaining about it? If the page takes too long to load, how about paying the cash for a Fiber-Optic or DSL and not a 56K? And the thing that really pisses me off is that Tom mentioned that the Ad Blocker screws up the wide layout, so ya' know, there go the staff, working on a solution caused by those of you out there who are robbing NG of income with your ad-blockers... I mean seriously, it's 2009, not 1989, if you have to complain about a page taking like 2 seconds more to load, but then go and waste the time downloading an Ad Blocker, you seriously need to step back and consider the consequences of your actions...

I run ad blocker but I always white list newgrounds because it blocks some things I don't want it to. I think the only advantage to having it is to block crap popups and ads on pages your only going to once. I usually have to white list all the sites I visit regularly.

I think that some people fail to understand that using Newgrounds (or any other website for that matter) for free is a privilege not a right. The website is payed for by the advertisements and the Newgrounds store so be grateful that no one forces you to spend money here. By putting on adblock you are stealing from Newgrounds and it is unfair to the staff and the users.

If Newgrounds wants to put up a home ad to be displayed to those who are using an advertisement blocker, then so be it! You aren't FORCED to come here nor are you FORCED to use your blockers, I'm sure they won't miss you because you never really cared about the site anyway.

I was an adblocker, (or ad-fag as I hear them called), but it broke the layout, and since BT upgraded our craptastic rural connection to not-shit, I figure why not just see the buggers, you guys gotta earn a living I guess.
