Mind you, it isn't shoved down your throat, really, is it? It's just... there, in the corner of the room.

i find it rather distracting in school. yes it is my choice whether to consume or not, but i find it unnerving to be so innondated with it.
i may be a staunch capitalist, but i think there are limits to where advertizing should be permitted.

Yeah, I suppose. I dont know, because there aren't any adverts in my school, but billboards everywhere could probably distract you easily.

Corporate sponsorship?
Our fucking school was built by Interserve inc. and technically they own the building. Therefore if they wanted to they could kick all the students out. The LEASE the school building to us.

As for me, I am completely against the fascist american school system. In my school your grade in each subject no way, in any shape or form, represents your ability inthat particular subject. You may have an A in social studies and be a complete fucking dunce, but do good because you remember green pens in class, and dont call out. But the kids who know more than most in social studies and are smarter than almost all, often get c's, d's, and f's. The school system in no way prepares you for real life. The drug education system in particular is completely useless, and does little. They tell us lies and exagerations about almost every drug to prevent us from doing them. Teaching us to not do them, is a good thing, and I support it. BUT, the reasons why they tell us not to do them are BS. when kids find out smoking marijuana wont kill you, and ciggaretts are not more addictive than heroin. They might just also think that other drugs facts were lies (as they probobly were) but it will give these kids justification for doing them, and not be able to determine fact, from myths created to scare us away from drugs. Our history teacher is a conservative, racist fool, who corrupts the minds of the students and humiliates them, more than he teaches them. He is also only five feet tall :) Anyways, to end my rant, FUCK THE AMERICAN SCHOOL SYSTEM!

Pumpkin, I will agree with you that just because you have a d in history does not mean you are bad at history.... however I think you should give the American public school system some credit for being able to make use of the few funds it gets to educate MOTIVATED students.. note motivated because you cant expect to get good grades or learn anything if you have a shitty attitude about your education and write it all off as propaganda. come on now, we are smarter than that.
my main beef with the US educational system is how deregulated it is... how the standard of public education in different economic areas of the country is so drastically different.. if its PUBLIC education then everyone should be able to get an equal education regardless of the amount of money their parents rake in. that is the american dream, after all.. that by using the resources that are free to all in this country you can make something of yourself.

Well, they are. No offense, but your logic is flawwed. Why? Oh, smokes cost about $5 a day, and heroin costs about $100 a day if youre like the loser fucks that I used to hang out with. Where did I hear this stat? Maybe one of the three times that I was in rehab. Why would they misinform us on this?

I stand corrected.. although I'd like to check with a physician on this one... I can't say I have personal experience with either, fortunately. Marijuana is the hardest I've ever gone not counting the morphine they gave me in the hospital when I had spinal surgery. Overrated, that's what I say to illegal drugs. Stick to alcohol instead, it makes you both fat AND temporarily happy.

Haha, I wish I could! Im glad that you didnt argue with me because I know a lot about this stuff. Some tests say they are equal, some say smokes are harder. Here is some history on me for anyone who reads this. I was a true fuck up. I smoked crack, did this, did that, went to jail and rehab over and over, and they were not short trips. Well, I finally learned my lesson, have been sober for over two years, and now im an honor student at The University of Michigan. Double w00t.

How many facs to the top smokes smoke in a day? 60, maybe even 80. How many junk hits can you take? 4? 5? It's not more addictive, it's the fact that it's COMPLETELY illegal, and peope have to fight for it instead of getting it in a shop.

The Problems of the Future, Today..............
Well, if a coporation owns the school, time to either move to a new school or teach yourself at home.
Then again, what's the big deal about seeing billboards while you drive down your neightbourhood? Aren't you supposed to be concentrated on driving?

Ok, lets try this again. Cigarettes are more addictive than heroin. When youre in rehab, they teach you about addiction while youre there; crazy talk, huh?

WTF? They didnt get rid of music. It was an idea that a lot of schoolas had to save money but very few actually did it.

Because there is no real money to be made in a career in music or the arts. The education process is becoming more and more about preparing yourself for a career and less and less about learning for the sake of knowledge.

But musicians get something money can't buy: Infamy. People will NEVER forget the likes of the Great Jazz musicians of the '20s, and all those old singers who had God-Given voices will never truly die. Money is just paper. I think i'm about to cry.

I beg to differ.. my dad brings home the bread by being an opera singer, and my mom used to be the orchestra manager for the philadelphia orchestra and now does cultural diplomacy and consulting for performing arts groups and corporations that want to do business in china... and its all paying for my college and a nice house.
Well of course there are those who make it to the big leagues and make more than enough money to subsist but not unlike professional sports, what are the odds of making it there?
