Cool. I've got a boatload of response from my ad in the VA Wanted thread, as well as a "yes" from our very own voicegirl. So there will no shortage of VAs... looks like every placer should be able to get a narration and then some!

Fuck you Zerok, that was my only claim to fame. ='(
It's a test.
WHO WILL WRITER #1 CHOOSE?
Buwahaha, you must be conflicted as a judge now.

habits are just so easy to fall back on...you really got to acknowledge them. i usually just utilize cliches to fill the gaps in my plots. laziness i dare say.

AND ZEROK, YOU MAKE A CAMEO. SO READ IT.
I'm judging them all, so all in due time.
:x
I'm already writing a story. Looks like I could use a little extra literature for today.
Will there be a list of all available VAs posted?
The last time I heard any story about a small island involved three women (a blond, brunette and redhead) and their attempts to get off said island. I don't remember it very well, but it was supposed to be humorous at the expense of the blonde woman.
Maybe I'll just stretch that joke into 1000+ words...

Step 1: Write your story in Word or a similar program on your computer
Step 2: Proofread
Step 3: Proofread
Step 4: Let it sit for a day or more.
Step 5: Proofread
Step 6: Go to This Thread and click "Reply to Post"
Step 7: Paste your story from your Word program into the Message Box
Step 8: Separate your story into appropriate Paragraphs
Step 8: Add italics/bolds/underlines as necessary
Step 9: Proofread
Step 10: Click "Post It!"
Okay, I'm going to start editing now. I might submit it tonight, but probably not. I think I'll sit on the edits for a day or so, then see how I feel about them, then see if I want to make any changes, make them, and then repeat the process until I feel comfortable with it. Realistically, I'll probably have my final draft submitted next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday. I really like how it's turned out so far, but I have a lot of time to improve it, so I won't rush it. I want to make this submission as good as possible, because I think it could potentially be a strong contender after a few rounds of additions, edits, revisions, etc.
Also, today is my 6th Newgrounds birthday. Huh, I just noticed, with less than an hour to spare.

At the time of winner-announcement, I daresay. I'll PM the VAs that have contacted me about a week prior to when I think the judging will be finished, and then hopefully most (all!) of them respond back saying that they're still in.
Updated/edited my rough draft, it's over 2,000 words now. That's twice what I thought it was going to be when I set out to write it, and it's probably going to be a bit longer. The updated rough draft is in my blog, if anyone wants to read and comment.
I've hit a snag about halfway through. I'll probably post what I have in my blog tomorrow for suggestions.
Im gonna reclaim a winning position in one of these, just you wait. ;)

I hated that book. Had to read in 8th grade. Terrible crap.

I didn't mind it too much. Most middle school reading was so bad, it made The Cay look good.
Lord of the Flies, however, has got to be my favorite Island-based book ever, and I read it in 9th grade. In fact, my story is similar to that book in a few aspects.
This seems like a subject that's right up my alley. I've already got a clever enough idea so there's about a sixty five percent chance that I'll start, finish, and submit a story.
Happy with what you have to be happy with

I'm actually writing something. :O
Bread makes you FAT!?
Also, Zerok, I'm still in to record a story that wins. I haven't done much with the other ones yet because I've been loaded down with school work. I am still in, though.
I'm gonna go back to my room and be awesome.

Hey, I'm new at the writing contests here. If my piece is longer than the character limit on the Post Reply box, (say, 2034 words) do I post it as two Posts?
I thought that's what happens, but I wanted to make sure.
Hey, I'm finished with my second rough draft. I think it's alright, but could I get some feedback on it before I post? It's on my userpage.
I hope my entry isn't going against the rules.
Can anyone tell me if it is?
:(

Yeah, just make sure your entry is paragraphed appropriately, using double spacing preferably. Then you can simply divide your entry into two parts, or however many parts are needed, and post them after each other. It will still count as one entry for you.
Nevermind, I give up. It kinda sucks.

QUESTION:
I know plagiarizing is obviously a no-no, that's not what I'm asking about here. What I'm wondering is if submissions will get passed over for using a writing STYLE used in other books. I.E. the interviewer/interviewee style in World War Z...

Using another writer's style or form to influence your own submission is fine by me, and I wouldn't have thought there would be any major qualms with that. Whether it's effective is something else, but as far as I know, it shouldn't have any problem with the rules. I remember someone in the last contest was asking if it was okay to write an entry that took influence from Catcher In The Rye to make its main character, and that was fine.
If Zerok or another one of the judges has something different to say, they can correct me, but I figure right now that it's absolutely okay. In fact, had you not pointed it out, I would've just looked through the entry and just noted that that's the style you decided to use!
Does it have to be about ESCAPING an island? 'Cause I wanna do one about an island, I just don't want to get into the escape.
I've made a few adjustments. I'd really appreciate any feedback on it before I submit. It's on my userpage.
Decided to enter in this one as well, I have an interesting idea for this one, about 2000 words in so far then I realized...
My story is about an island and a majority does take place on an island, but it doesnt START on the island. Does it have to?

No. If you look at my story, only a small portion actually takes place on the island. The rules state only that it must involve an island in a key way.
