Aw <3 i like the picture
it's not real art if you just trace two pictures together

He obviously used a reference you stupid fuck. Just because someone uses a picture as a reference doesn't mean he's tracing you ass munch. Get your fucking facts straight, oh and if he actually is tracing maybe show some evidence you retarded dick gobbling ass-fuck.

Haha thank you, most of my art is pictures that i like and i try to make my artwork look like theirs. For instance, Hobbes was drawn while looking at a comic strip, and Bam was drawn while looking at a photo.

no need for language asslicker
and it's blatently obvious that it was traced due to the fact that in all of his drawings, at the time, he couldn't draw a straight lline while the drawing on that is nice and smooth
and if you use reference and draw it egzactly the same except for moving an arm that's not really "art"

His drawing varies from the pictures he supplied in some significant areas. Indicating that it was not traced (or poorly, in that aspect), but drawn from a reference. Just like the Bam Margera pic.
The reason the big daddy drawing appears to be better is purely because we are not as familiar with robots as we are with faces. If you draw a face which has some proportion errors, a lot of poeple will notice it (even if they dont recognize the specific faults).
Please, dont accuse poeple of tracing unless you have some proof to back it up. If it was really traced, its easy to make a simple overlay pic at 50% opaque, or maybe an animated gif to show you are right.
To OP: I would suggest trying to draw from memory (so without using an actual reference). If you are going to use a reference, use a real life reference. Meaning, no pictures of poeple but actual poeple, or inanimate objects (which tend to be better at sitting still).
It might also be a good idea to decide what you want to focus on. Im not saying you should only focus on one thing, but it is easier to learn one thing at a time. At the moment you seem to have adequate handling skill with pencil (you have quite nice shading on the pics with reference), but those cartooney pics are pretty bad to my taste.
Good luck with your drawing

Goddamn son! I think you're right! Well you've totally disproved me, hey I guess the Mona Lisa isn't art, since Da vinci actually had to look at her to be able to draw it! Well, I guess by your standards, all the famous artists throughout time that have used references, AREN'T ARTISTS AT ALL! :D

Oh look,he draws a lot of pictures using references, MAYBE YOU SHOULD GO TO HIS CHANNEL AND BOTHER HIM! HOW DARE HE LOOK AT SOMETHING AND COPY IT! MPH! WHAT A CHEATER >:O
i don't consider that art
because art is an expression of inner feelings and if you're just using reference it becomes a form of roadside sketches. because the thing about art is that no matter how good or bad your art is it should always be something different them everyone elses and i don't see that in jake. sure drawing fan art and pictures of your self is fine once and a while but if it's all you do than you show your lack of imagination and creativity.
what i'm trying to say is jake should try something new not just pictures of him and fan art
before you comment onn that last one i'm aware two of his pictures are original but he lacked enthusiasm when presenting them which hinted that he was not satisfied with the results. so to correct my last statement, he needs to focus on drawing original art
I don't want this discussion to be mainly about, "What is art?" , but to find out about what people's opinions are of my work. (Most of them are work because i spend a great deal of time on most of them) When I try to draw something out of my head it is normally during class because it's so fucking boring. I don't deem those drawings worthy enough to be in this topic, but when I get the chance I will scan, and post them in the appropriate Art Forum Topic. So Yeah drawing or painting something while l'm looking at is the best way for me to get the details straight. And from reading the comments from the helpful users I have learned some things i need to do to make my art better. 1. Try and draw actual things. As a matter of fact i already have, in art class. We would put students in different poses and try and draw them accurately, this worked fairly well. 2. I'm pretty good at drawing details and should focus more on things that aren't so cartoonish. Not to please the community but because it may be a better direction for me. 3. My Big Daddy has nice shading, detail, and baby making hips. But it is in a rather boring stance. Well i chose this stance because when i started the project all i was thinking of was just getting the details that make up a Big Daddy; I didn't decide to move it's drill until i realised i would run out of paper. And now that is it's biggest downfall, Awesome Detail, Boring Position. 4. My art work has "been digressing"; actually this is only partly true. Beacause ALL of my art posted,EXCEPT the Bam picture, was drawn before The Bouncer. Finally thank you for all of the positive help and reviews which i hope still continue to come with newer drawings that i post.
P.S. Thank you CrazyGiraffe for finally giving some useful advice instead of blatantly accusing me of shit.
Oh and Here's some new art I did, Enjoy!
=I used a picture that Masashi Kishimoto drew to draw Naruto.
Here is my attempt at painting.
=it is the cover for Breaking Dawn, some of which was cut off due to size of my scanner. :(
=A puppy that I did used a picture as reference i think he's pretty cute.
Here's a new bouncer that I just worked on with my new tablet. Cleaned it up and stuff. Man i wish i could make this into a T-Shirt!

Well I Might not Submit "art" in here for a while, but I am working on a videogame so i will insert concept art for it as i go.
So far today is the second day of planning. Me and my friends are creating it in C#; or C++. Haven't decided which is better
here's my newest art, it's a screw destroying a city.
here's another picture I did, it's supposed to be Snake from Metal Gear Awesome. I think it's pretty fuckin' cool
here is another picture I made in flash it is a "digitally remastered" version of my picture of Gir.
Here is the logo for the company that me and my friends started, it's Called Free Team.Enjoy
At 9/10/09 10:52 PM, PrinceFlea wrote: What is the exact goal that you've set up with your friend for this company? Is it indepentent game publishing or a line of clothing?
well i don't know where you got the clothing thing from but yes; it is Indie Game Development. We are a company that is working on a Flash game at the moment, (a platformer), and hope to release it on XBLA
ok, well we are making a prototype for the game in Flash, to get all our ideas down and apply them in a great learning environment. Flash is our trainer until I figure out some more of the C# code in order to make the XBLA version. Also Flash (in my opinion) is the best drawing platform there is out there. So the finished game on XBLA will have the essence of a Flash game. It will be a shooting platformer with hopefully up to 4 character selection. I will have to decide on what I can do to include in both versions.
well we want it to be so insanely addictive on XBLA because by then we will have learned how to add in leaderboards and in-game achievements and stuff. but for the Flash version I think it will have just a sampling of what will be in the game. So no i don't think it will be too hard. But definitely will have a great art style, characters, weapons (melee too!).
I did this a while ago in a little drawing workshop, really the only art class I've ever taken. I did have a reference, but I think it's pretty good, even considering a reference was used. What choo think?
