Just curious what programs people mainly use to make their flash movies and games and what programs they use to make the art work for them?

sorry if there are any similar topics but didn't want to dig through the forum looking for semi relevant stuff.
Thanks for any help.

The program most people use is Flash. It's expensive, but there's a thirty day trial available so you can see if you're really going to want it, as well as much cheaper educational versions if you're a student.

dont forget there are also cheaper versions of flash such as flash 8 and flash MX, both of which are very useful for an animator, but not as useful as CS3 and 4 if you're a programmer.

i use 8 as a programmer, and although not as powerful as SC3 or 4 it still gets you quite good results, if you know how to optimize

Yeah, digging through the forum can be tough. Someone should really make a sticky in the flash forum, that links to a page explaining exactly how to start with flash. It should be called something like

New to Flash?Read this first!

Fine if you dont want to spend ages looking for relevant topics, but would 10 seconds really of killed you?

I've been here before and I didn't ask for Flash tutorials, what I was interested in was what programs people are using, mainly which programs for their art.

I use gimp for the graphics processing I do, and its free and very functional, Ive also used photoshop in the past. So definatly try both and if you can get by on just gimp you just saved yourself some money.

Like everyone said use flash! There are also Student Editions out there that are ceaper.

Or you can use Pivot. It's free, but a very limited stick figure program. It also can export SWF files, so you can't put your animation on ng.
