Exploiting 'his' creative product to support that journey is what it takes and does not equal selling out. Instead of calling him a sell out watch what he does, he's blazing new ground (no pun intended).
I dont think anyone faults him for going after his dreams, the idea behind giving something out for free and suddenly pulling it and having people buy the dvd instead was a gut punch to people.
IMO, the web is viral, and even if he does pull those movies down, people are going to find it and or already have and leaking it on youtube so in my opinion its a bonehead move to even pull those episodes. He has a loyal fanbase, that will support the dvd even if it has content that is freely available online, he create NEW stuff for it thats exclusive to the dvd that cant be found online.
Edmund made his Edmund DVD which is a compilation of his work, work that is available for free online and yet he still sells packaged into a dvd for $10, people still buy it for the sake of supporting the artist and because Edmund decided to offer more than just his content online, he has like his sketches and other shit.
So from my perspective, disabling once free content is burning bridges.
