I wasn't going to post this since it's not related to him being an asshole, but for those who don't know, his son's name is Vector.

His son is Vector Farr.

How can any of you actually defend this kind of thing? Xombie's success on the web got Farr exposure and income--if they had never been online for free, he would probably have never gotten this DVD deal at all. It's so ridiculous that any of you think he's even slightly justified in doing this. He DID have a say in it, he DID sell out, and he CHOSE to take his series away from the people who supported him and got him this far. It's true they're not deleted from the site entirely, indicating that they may be available again someday, but that DOES NOT JUSTIFY IT. If anything, it makes it even more slimy--he's yanking them so he can make a few dollars off DVDs and when sales die off within a few weeks he'll put them up again.
Truly a disgusting abuse of your fans and supporters.

I liked Xombie, but this is pretty lame. One of the best parts of flash is it being pretty much free. Artists have to right to want to earn money with their work, but they should ask for donations or sell merchandise, not make people buy things. Saying that I must buy the DVD to view the cartoons is like saying, "I deserve your money because I'm awesome." That's a dick move.

Imagine if you went to ArmorGames.com and it said that all the games are disabled until people buy 500 A.G. t-shirts.

I'm a regular thread killer. If you see my post at the bottom of a page, chances are there are no more posts below it.

That's why you should always look to see the most critically acclaimed flashes on this site!

It's only chapters 6-10. You can still watch the first 5.

But I'm pissed off this little prick is trying to score money off of what he's doing. He's selling out probably because it's the only thing keeping a roof over his head.

The DVD will be pirated the day of release, this really isn't that big of a problem.

I don't get it.

A guy out of the blue creates a successful web series. Its seen on sites like this one around the world. Tons of people offer slaps on the back and congratulations on being creative and working really hard. There are tons of people writing and saying "you should make a movie" and to take it hollywood, get it on TV...

Exploiting 'his' creative product to support that journey is what it takes and does not equal selling out. Instead of calling him a sell out watch what he does, he's blazing new ground (no pun intended).

I dont think anyone faults him for going after his dreams, the idea behind giving something out for free and suddenly pulling it and having people buy the dvd instead was a gut punch to people.
IMO, the web is viral, and even if he does pull those movies down, people are going to find it and or already have and leaking it on youtube so in my opinion its a bonehead move to even pull those episodes. He has a loyal fanbase, that will support the dvd even if it has content that is freely available online, he create NEW stuff for it thats exclusive to the dvd that cant be found online.

Edmund made his Edmund DVD which is a compilation of his work, work that is available for free online and yet he still sells packaged into a dvd for $10, people still buy it for the sake of supporting the artist and because Edmund decided to offer more than just his content online, he has like his sketches and other shit.

So from my perspective, disabling once free content is burning bridges.

i couldnt agree more with all you said right there man. it's a pretty stupid move to take the shit down, especially if he's intending to sell the very same material.

if he'd take it down FOR GOOD, for some reason, and never show it to anyone - that would be different. and rather odd.

Well, it was pretty smart and fair of him to have the first five episodes still viewable, this will get anyone new to the series sucked into it and wanting more, so it's a pretty clever idea. But I still don't see it as good idea of him making people pay to view the rest of his series, some people will probably pirate the series, while others will just move on to a series that is free. So, to put it nice and simple, if he is trying to make a living off this series, I really don't see it happening, maybe if he starts getting a ridiculous amount of exposure.

If you think this unjust then you must think every priced piece of art/entertainment that has every existed is unjust. It is his own work he can do with it as he pleases. Him releasing it for free and then charging for does not come into the picture at all. People want to make money, let them.

LOL I can't wait for illwillpress to start pulling that shit too because all the drama it would cause would be funny.

Don't get me wrong that was a dick move on james farr's part but don't start giving him money because it opens the flood gates for other artisits doing the same shit too.

Selling you cartoons you can already see on the internet for free.

Nah, james farr was always a sellout from day one. This just so happens to be one of his most recent examples.
