Tough shit, don't do it and you wont get banned. These boards are part of a privately owned website and your opinion is worth way less than you think.

The general forum was made so people can come here, share opinions, and have a good time. It's meant be a place to say what you want but to do so in a respectful way, even if it's not a supporting comment.

I don't see how the opinions of regular users are any less important of the opinions of the mods. There are many more users than there are mods, and if all mods disrespected users and treated everyone who entered the site like crap, then people would stop coming.

The only difference between the mods and users is that the mods are more respected, and have the ability to ban. Other then that we are the same people, considering all mods were regulars before becoming mods.

TLDR - Be easier on spam threads, don't destroy ban all the time, and stop thinking so incredibly high of yourself if you are, is my message to the mods.

I didn't look into context, but in your last 20 pages of posts (you know search pages), you used the word faggot or its derivations 31 times. I couldn't scan further back than that because I never perfected the tool I was working on. But yeah, you use the word and I can pull up which pages you do it on as well, if you are curious later, just probably not this weekend. Y

ou can decide whether you've used it enough, but the ruling was no use of the word at all. That's what Wade said, that's what I've been enforcing.

Also, what you've been posting in public (that's all I scanned) is a matter of public record anyone could have actually gone back and counted so I don't feel this is any sort of breach. Especially after your offer to suck your own penis on cam.

Nevermind, you're probably flipping poozy. Its not accurate at all. :P

I now remember why I scrapped the scanner. It scans topic titles & quotes, so when you posted in a topic with that in its title or quotes someone else it attributes it to you. Still some of them may be legitimate from you, or maybe not. I couldn't say without looking back through your posts, something I don't really care to do.

I looked through the pages that were flagged and actually, none of those pages at least within the last 20 which is whereabouts Poozy posted in this thread the first time involved him misusing the word. Almost everytime the word shows up its because he's posting in the Faggot-Federation thread or has quoted someone.

So, recently, since this thread was created at the least, Poozy hasn't been violating that rule and anyone who says otherwise can't back it up.

My apologies. Don't trust technology :P

If there's a thread you think is causing an issue, you PM or IM me or another mod. It's not really that much of a hassle (or it shouldn't be) for us to take a look and give it a yeah or a nay.

But if I don't know about it, I can't act on it. The real issue sometimes is the assumption we're constantly browsing the forums when on the net. It's a big pool sometimes can't tell when someone's pissed in it.

Also not implying anything here, but we need more mods around. Like bunch more. If you look at the moderators at the bottom of the screen, theirs only a select few who actually moderate. Like a small handful. We need more moderators and less power hungry mods who just want the aura.

Hold on, what the fuck makes you think that inactive moderators are only there for the aura? The aura means fuck all to the people who wield it, which is often a good way to tell if someone is right for the job or not - they don't see it as a throne they can sit on just to feel superior to all the regular users.

Don't you dare repeat stupid shit like this you've heard other butthurt users cry, it makes you look as stupid as they are and that's something you could do without.

The aura is nothing special, just someone pee'd on there normal aura, and they have yet to wash it off.

The mods are doing fine, they do there job, they enforce the rules, they do what they have to do. Any issue I had was resolved ether in this thread, or within pm's.

Now lets have some users tell me to swallow or slurp or something.

Like I said I wasn't implying anything, you work very hard at what you do. I'm just saying some mods I've never seen lock a thread - now that doesn't mean they don't, but they seem less active to me. But we need like 3 or 4 really dedicated mods to keep the BBS clean. I'm not saying it's easy to be a mod, but why not just click into every thread and lock if necessary? A large majority of NG BBSers do that anyways (Except the locking part), so why not mod a couple of dedicated BBS people? Dry ice you know I will always suck your balls dry please don't be mad at me I will always love you.

Where did you get the correlation between less active = power hungry?

You are honestly clueless as to what being a BBS mod is. First, moderators have lives, meaning there will always be unspoken shift rotations and quiet periods where there's less moderators on.

If you honestly think being a BBS mod is just opening topics and locking them, then you really need to stay out of this thread. Of course it's easy to come along and lock a bad photoshop thread or delete an obvious spam thread, but what about the decisions that aren't quite as obvious?

Being a moderator is a volunteer job and the people who stick at it are the ones who truly want to see the BBS flourish without being tainted by the mediocre bad jokes and spammers who pop up all the time.

Sometimes you stumble across a topic that's been left unchecked and has grown to 3 pages when it should have been cut off at 3 replies, and you think to yourself "right, time to spend the next 15 minutes cleaning this fucking mess up" and the only reason you do is because you want the forum to be clean more than anything else.

The people who thing being a BBS moderator is all about inside jokes and superiority are exactly the people who aren't right for the position - namely you.

Dry ice you know I will always suck your balls dry please don't be mad at me I will always love you.

You won't admit you can look at the online moderators and pick a handful that don't moderate?

I understand it's a volunteer and mods don't have lives and glue themselves to the computer all day opening topics and locking them. I'm saying I've seen retarded topics that have gone on far to long not get locked (Which you stated) and virtually meaningless topics locked.

You guys do a great job, especially since you watch over the General Forum (The most active forum) and try to maintain all the tards and there shitty pointless topics. Not disputing that. I'm saying their are people who do sit in front of their PC's all day and lurk the BBS, why not mod a few of them? Would that not make it easier?

I wasn't saying what you where doing was just for the aura (although I did say that, but didn't mean it in that context exactly) I was referring to the people who have it just because. Think of famous artist on the site that were modded but never actually lurk the BBS. All I was saying.

I never denied this. I explained a few reasons why, but it seems like you missed them -
Moderators have REAL LIVES, which means time periods where they're away from NG. It can be days, weeks, months, anything like that. Also, a lot of moderators are active in forums you don't visit, which means you haven't seen them do anything.

You still haven't told me where you got the correlation between inactive moderators and power-hungry moderators.

I understand it's a volunteer and mods don't have lives and glue themselves to the computer all day opening topics and locking them. I'm saying I've seen retarded topics that have gone on far to long not get locked (Which you stated) and virtually meaningless topics locked.

When there's a topic that you think hasn't been seen by a moderator, send one of us a PM and ask us to check it out. The italic bits are emphasised because often users demand we ban someone or lock something for all the wrong reasons, and they're wrong about it and it's annoying.

I'm saying their are people who do sit in front of their PC's all day and lurk the BBS, why not mod a few of them? Would that not make it easier?

Do they care about the BBS... and are they trustworthy? As soon as you start filling the BBS with moderators, it'll start to blur the line between mod and user, which means all sorts of whining from both sides.

Aside from anything else, the people who browse the BBS all day don't necessarily know how it works well enough to be a moderator. I was beginning to feel a lot of resent towards this forum when I saw people spamming or getting away with bannable offences, and I can't speak for anyone else, but before I was modded I really wasn't enjoying the BBS much.

The people who can browse the BBS all day and aren't moderators are actually really lucky, because they don't have the burden of knowledge and subconscious desire to fix something which they have no control over.

I wasn't saying what you where doing was just for the aura (although I did say that, but didn't mean it in that context exactly) I was referring to the people who have it just because. Think of famous artist on the site that were modded but never actually lurk the BBS. All I was saying.

You have to be more careful with the words you throw around. You specifically said that the moderators who you don't see moderate things are just power-hungry users who like the aura because of the superiority complex they have.

I think the moderators and administrators here are doing an excellent job. To be honest the BBS naturally should be filled with spam and obnoxiousness. It is because of the hard work of good people that it is not. I have seen what happens to big forums or chatrooms when they do not get the moderation they need. Quickly they become very useless except to spammers who think it so funny to do anything but something useful. Yes, sometimes the moderators can seem a little hard, but they have to be. That is the only way to keep the BBS in line. Otherwise we would see spam and malicious links all over. I have learned from experience that there absolutely must, anywhere with a significant population, be an order. By keeping people afraid of breaking the rules and getting banned by being kind of hard, people think more. When people think more, we get less stupidity. With less stupidity, everyone can enjoy the BBS more as what it was intended to be. Think about it this way, if you get banned and/or warned, you have done something dumb most likely. If you have done something dumb you are contributing negatively to Newgrounds. Nobody likes to see garbage thrown all over their website.

We need a BBS IQ test. This wouldn't work, but we need to filter the amount of retards pouring into the BBS. I can't really think of another way. Maybe you can't post on the BBS until you have been around actively for a few months? Bleh, that's a stupid idea, but I am thinking aloud.

I understand that of course. I've said before numerous times in this thread, that I think most of the discussion here is opinion based, not fact based (and this applies to, you know, online forum discussion in general anyway). Trying to make this thing into a fact based discussion would be a pretty pointless exercise, because it would be impossible. I've accepted many, many times before that any point I bring up will not be enlightened by knowing the full picture. I don't know the full picture! The best I can do is just take in as much as I can (which some might say is a relevant phrase if I'm applauding a mod's actions) and try to make an argument that might help people enjoy using this place a little more... or something.

One thing I keep in mind myself when browsing this thread is that I'm often combining what some users have fed back (particularly e-friends I've made here over the years, if I'm being honest) with how I see things myself. People, myself included maybe, may deliberately or non-deliberately exaggerate some things about you and some of other more "harsh" mods, but the way I see it is that people are finding faults with the place, and those "faults" can be discussed even without knowing the full picture. It's interpretivism at its finest. I think you might risk seeing only two sides to the debate otherwise: mods and positive regulars users on one side, against people being "butthurt" about bans, and I think that's... well, a little silly really. Maybe I'm the one being too serious there, it's a matter of someone interpreting me!

You'll have a different opinion I'm sure, but I think at times saying things like "you stupid kids need people to be harsh and badass" (not a direct quote from anyone obviously, hypothetical etc.) is almost as bad as the people that go around saying "Newgrounds is stupid"... on Newgrounds. It's not saying much about the community, a considerable number of which I maintain are more than capable of forming their own opinions of something without choosing between two typical sides. There are some interesting posts here and in other threads that bring up some issues, and these posts are quite often made by people who could claim to be regulars here, who don't often get banned or have any sort of weird, possibly hilarious, "e-vendetta" against any mod. Perhaps your point about "ridiculous insinuations" can be used for the other side too, who knows. Hmm.

It might seem like I'm moaning like an idiot here. If you look through some of my previous posts, it might seem as if I spend my whole life sitting on the fence, moaning about the points digging into my ass. I come to the BBS every day, and I find myself laughing at random threads all the time, but I don't usually post in them, possibly leading someone to think I'm just being stuffy about Newgrounds issues and nothing else. Trust me, it's not the case. I think it's time for me to push my new Literature Forum And Literature Portal Discussion, Film, Japanese Learning, General Literature Discourse, Comfy Slippers And Cat Chat Forum idea. That's a forum I know I'll more active in.

I'm not sure I have anything left to say here (I probably missed something out), but I'll probably find more to talk about as time goes on (!). Hopefully that clears my thoughts up that little bit more, ooh ah. I'll be happy to read any replies from anyone and all that.

This is what we have spell checking for, if you don't have it then use wordpad since it red lines anything you spell wrong, no reason to have an edit, get it done spelled right the first time in, check what you wrote before you post in the forums so you don't cause a blunder.

Exactly, I'm tired of people whining about an edit or delete button. If you can't go back and correct the things Microsoft UNDERLINED for you, that's your fault. Now, if you don't have the spell checking sytem, at least have the decency to look back at yourself if you're so worried about if you spelled something right. If it's that much of a concern to some, I'd think you'd have the knowledge to look over it!?

It likely annoys the mods, I don't think you'd like it if you were mod and someone was always backseat modding a thread before you reach it.

Backseat Modding isn't suggesting that someone go to another forum. It's stuff like, "this will get locked" or "get ready for a ban" or posting rules in an arrogant or smarmy way, insinuating that you actually have some kind of power. If you kindly suggest that they're in the wrong forum, or that they're quite blatantly violating a rule then thats okay. But in that case you should just PM a Mod.
