Meh, seeing another one of the people said "I could care less" on 4chan today caused me to rage a little, and decided to take the time to make this post on Newgrounds, since I care so much about educating.

As you see, in the chart that I took a bit of time looking(so I don't have to make my own, for you see I am very lazy):

"if one cares to any degree at all, it is possible to care less, those who care a great deal could also care less."

So, you would most likely want to say "I couldn't care less" in a situation where you don't care about the said subject, rather than saying "I could care less".

I've always said 'i couldn't care less'.
For the simple reason thats English.
Saying ' i could care less' has a complete diffrent meaning.

These people you talk of obviously don't even understand their own languege.

You know this is what I find to be the most annoying thing about Americanised English.

I can accept 'cookie' instead of biscuit, and to a certain extent I will tolerate 'chips' being used to describe crisps, but It's 'I COULDN'T CARE LESS'.

I couldn't care less if you think I'm a grammar nazi, and I couldn't care less if you say 'I could care less' regardless of this post, but it's WRONG.

It's not really research, it's common English, anyone who didn't know this already is a little stupid. It's obvious you would need to care if you could care less, but if you couldn't then you don't say could. But I've always heard people say "I couldn't care less" so eh.

Yeah, i've always thought about that too. When you "could care less" shouldn't it mean that you do care, but could care less, rather than meaning that you don't give a damn?

You obviously have to care at all in order to even say "I couldn't care less." Let's say you cared at 1 percent and couldn't care less. This means that you do care, but can't care anymore or less than 1 percent.
