Say I had the sentence: I know I'm smart (even though I wont admit it to anyone)

Would a period go inside, or outside of the parenthesis?

1.) I know I'm smart (even though I wont admit it).

I've never really been good with small things like that. If I were to write a book ( even though I'm not planning to ) it'd make a big difference.

It depends on the context. In your case, it would go on the outside. It only goes on the inside if the words form a sentence by themselves.

I believe it depends if it's a sentence in itself. I'll show you two examples.

1. This is a generic sentence (I couldn't think if anything better).

2. This is a generic sentence. (I couldn't think if anything better.)

Notice how the first one includes the parentheses inside the sentence, so the full stop is after.

The second one has it outside the sentence, so the full stop is inside.
