I redistributed the different colors to different layers, 11 in total. I tried to distribute layers in such a way that one layer overlaps the other. When one layer wraps around another layer (hand/gun), it is harder to make the transitions smooth....
The layers as I have them now (1 is on top, 11 at bottom)
1 light blue areas of suit
2 the right side of the dark blue area of the suit
3 tie
4 right side of shirt
5 hair
6 face
7 the left side of the dark blue area of the suit
8 left side of shirt
9 fingers
10 gun
11 arms/hand, triggerfinger
as you can see the arm does not overlap anything, whereas the hair is not overlapped by anything (except a small part of the forehead perhaps)

suit partially finished.

ok you work a lot different to me, but since i do lineart in my work its understandable, yours is kinda painting, but with me i have either each section on a different layer, or each colour on a different layer, the shading i do over the colouring, same layer just lock transparent pixels so i dont go off, looks good though, nice to have an insight into how others work

Yeah I do that for my cartoony/lineart pics too. I have to add though that I dont have a set way of going about it; I normally dont have so many layers; then again, I dont normally have so complex shapes. e.g. Animals are generally one color, without distinct seperate parts. When drawing a bird I might make a new layer for the beak and eye, but that`d be it.
For this drawing I decided; If im gonna split it up; I might as well do it right.

Yeah, I guess some explanation might be justified here; Ive recently been getting more into abstrahism, above pic and the one with this post are examples of that. I`ve always liked doing diverse stuff, and I always have been doing cartoony as well as realistic art. For me, this is yet another angle to work from, and its one Ive got lots to learn in, which I like a lot.
So, even though the "fox hunting"-pic might not be a big deal to you, for me its an important step.

i think its interesting. i like the fox part a lot. the bunnies are too obviously bunnies. they look almost cartoony so they dont fit right for me. overall its a fun pic.

lol... stickam is a website that hosts chatRooms and live streams and stuff like that. The people here at the art forum occasionally create a chatRoom at stickam so that they can go there and talk about random topics and events.
