...and what I started thinking about was slightly scary.
I get around 8 hours sleep every day, which seems like a reasonable amount. So this means that I spend 16 hours of my day awake. The 8 hours that I spend asleep makes up a third of my day, so I must spend at least a third of my lifetime sleeping.
If you were to live until the age of 99, in theory you will have spent 33 years asleep if you average out with 8 hours of sleep a day. To me, this seems like such a large part of what is described as a "short time on earth" wasted. I understand that some people like sleeping, but do you like it enough to "waste" 33 years of your life?
I know we all need sleep and there is not a lot we can do about this.I also understand that everyone will have different opinions on the matter, and there will be those who will laugh and make jokes, but seriously, stop and think. How does it make YOU feel to know that you spend around a third of your life asleep?
