Microsoft is re-launching its search engine, promising to make search simpler, and aiming to overhaul Yahoo. Re-named and re-branded Bing.com, the search engine will go live first in the US and launch in beta elsewhere.

Interesting what to make of this, it does seem like a new big step and something we'll look back on in years to come like the launch of Google but can it really change the market? Will you use it? Does it seem good?

What's the point?

Purple haze all around, don't know if I'm coming up or down.

It looks as if Microsoft is going over-the-top to make their browser stand out, which normally backfires due to higher expectations. But I don't know. I'll have to check it out when they're done.

Also, was there a release date? I scanned the BBC article, but I didn't see any date.

Not really. Google sounds cooler and I'm used to using it. Anything Microsoft touches tends to fail in some major way anyway.

They should've called it Tribiani.

Very good points and the release date is set on June 3rd which is worldwide. An idiotic factor to this is that only the US will get the full version and those outside the US will have a Beta version.

Bing? No. Ew. It's like Google and Ask.com had a baby and aborted it.

If I lived in China, I'd have some Chinese children.

I bet they just renamed it.

From what I've heard, its slightly better than Live Search, but its no Google killer. I've also heard that MS might just say "fuck it" and buy Yahoo if this fails.

Odd that not many have met it with a positive response, I guess people hate new things.

Why don't they try out something new for a change.

To be honest I dont think I could use anything other than Google. Google is fine and I know that works, I dont think anything will replace it anyway.

You're all on your own there.

I'm not gonna use it, Google is number one for a reason and that reason is it's the biggest and fastest and therefore best.

There is nothing you can name that is more delicious and awesome than Subway.

Google rules. There's no way you can change the whole world to use a different search engine.

I seriously doubt any search engine can be as simple as google. I've been using google pretty much since I first learned how to use the internet and I don't plan on switching.
