Would You Do It?
Don't you just hate this? When parents/teacher or whoever else, say this to you?
Like when a kid has been playing Knock-A-Door-Run, or some other game like that, or if they did something wrong, like threw something at someone, and their excuse is "He/she/they told me to"
How can people compare jumping off a cliff, to playing a silly little game?
Do you guys have any other things you hate, that you get told when you're being told off?

Agreed. My mom never used that, because it makes absolutely no sense. My friends, however, whenever they did something wrong, or bad, i would ALWAYS here that statement coming from their parents.
Mom: "Why did you take that candy bar!?"
Billy: "Tommy told me too!"
Mom "Well if tommy told you to jump off the edge of a cliff at a height of 36 meters, and fall at a velocity of 80 mph, which would result in death, would you?"
Billy: "STFU mom"
Do what now...?

So you'd run around the playground with a pink wig on if your mate told you? Would you jump off a cliff if he said to do that too?!

I would jump of a cliff, assuming that there was water close enough and deep enough I wouldn't die or get injured. Or assuming the cliff was really high and I had enough time for my parachute to work properly.
I would tell that to my mom, and get into more trouble.

So the English version is jumping off a cliff?
It's funny because in French we say jump off a bridge.
My signature was old so I changed it.

S'what my parents said.
"Everyone else was doing it!"
"If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you?"
"Yeah, probably, but it would be more like stepping of a bridge onto a pile of bodies"
"No, there's a current. "
"Oh. Well, probably still. I mean, I don't want to be alone in the world."

I used to hear that one. I would always ask if the cliff stretched out over the water and how far of a drop it was. When my mom got mad, I explained to her that the answer to my questions could drastically change my answer to her. Ultimately she would call me a son of a bitch, which is the funniest possible thing she could say. Oh.... the memories.

Never really bothered me. Chances are if I was using the "Everybody else was doing it" excuse I already knew that what I was doing was wrong and I should have exercised the same common sense that I would have if the situation involved suicide. Not that I wouldn't respond back with a smart-ass comment along the lines of "Hell yeah I'd jump off a bridge."

I don't see what's confusing, it's pretty much the exact same thing
Ding-dong = Knock a door
Ditch = Run

Ding-dong = Knock a door
Ditch = Run

But wouldn't the ditch mean, ditch the person "ding-donging"?

Of course the answer is: ____ jumped off a cliff? I'm so there.
