After we die, we will become decomposed, and the carbon from our corpse's matter will form new life.
This is what we know, but spiritually, I think we as a race are lost, and in an attempt to deny the possible truth, create a higher stature, such as Heaven. I do not want to believe that we stay in the ground and that is it, but I have yet to see a clear alternative.

If you read a bunch of books like me, you should find plenty of insighting, argumented opinions...

Ex: In "Jurassic Park" it is established that it's pretty much inevitable that the human race will become extinct after so and so million years, but it also argues how it's the course of adaptive nature (people can't really "save the environment", as when the world becomes too polluted the environment WILL adapt to the conditions and create a sustainable life condition, people can only try to save themselves), it's happened to a bunch of dominant races before us (in ancient times, when plants started to make oxygen, it was a deadly poison to all animals) and should not be viewed negatively

Bad ex: In "The Presence" they make some dumb arguing that humans originally thrived 15 million years ago on another galaxy but eventually learned the exact date they'd all die, so they sent "seeds" inthe form of geodes which spawned early hominids to a handful of planets, and one or two of those just so happened to land on earth.

Peronsaly I believe then when you die you have a choice to either rot in the ground or become a random type of ghost so you may end up haunting someone but it's a chance to see your loved ones

Oh boy!

[Insert convoluted justification for a clearly unproven hypothesis - justified by little to no evidence - and evoking such a shallow and brief understanding of science that it'd be an insult to even call it pseudoscience.]

Oh and...

[Insert an expression of absolute relativity, so as to evade any future attempts to knock the aformentioned hypothesis.]

Magical? lol wat?

Yes. In order for your idea to make sense. You have to give electricity magical powers. I'll save us both some time and explain what would happens next in this conversation. I'd explain why electricity can't do what you're supposing it does. And then you try to find ways around this information so you're still right.

Which really begs the question, "what exactly does it mean that something should make sense?"

And now I leave you with an analogy: Bob is walking down the street. He spots some chocolate on the sidewalk. He concludes it's chocolate because it's brown. He says to himself, "makes sense to me." He then proceeds to taste it. It tastes like twigs and sour berries. He reasons that someone must have forgotten to add the sugar. As the taste is not to his liking, he leaves the rest of the chocolate on the sidewalk, and continues on his walk thinking to himself, "makes sense to me."

Makes more sense than God IMO

"IMO"? Well if that's the extent of the relevance of your philosophy to this world, that's not saying much for your philosophy is it? I love that. "it's just my opinion." "well it makes sense to me." Come on! Like everything is suddenly untouchable once you call it an opinion.

And no. No amount of pseudoscience makes a philosophy more sensible - it just dresses it up in a tuxedo, and a whole lot of makeup.

When I die, my body will de-compose and serve as a fertilizer or become a food source. The physical elements that I'm made of will still be around, just in different forms. That's a pretty cool thought.

You've completely missed the point of what i tried to explain. let's leave it at that.

All of us were born, and while we live we understand every thing around us, some things we like and some we don't. you usually are around the things you like because it makes you happy, and you like being happy. being around these things gives you a soul or a meaning for living. its why you wake up every morning, you have shit to do. if we had nothing to live for or no soul we would not try to kill ourselves or just not care if we all die. My question is, What happens to that soul when you die? does it dissipate with your brain matter? or is it something more that lives on through your children? And what about kids? are we put on this earth to be horny fucks and make so many god damn babies that we are going to eventually end ourselves? It is going to happen sooner or later. we are growing way to fast.

Jesus christ. Electricity? What the hell are you talking about, son? Electrochemicals signals are made of ions patterns (composed of atoms like sodium, calcium and potassium), not electrons. And since the body isn't made of metal, these ions have no effect on your movement. Muscles operate through muscle contraction. Plus your reincarnation theory is complete nonsense. After these ions reach their target, they simply become permanently bound to the carbon receptors and lose their charge. Ions have no identity of their own. Unless they flow in a very specific pattern through the axon, they mean nothing. When you die, the neurons that transmit them die, and therefore there are no new charged ions being released. It is impossible for some charged ions to be magically released in a perfect pattern then somehow be inherited inside the brain of a different. We have not observed any movement of particles in and out of the brain after a person dies.

I agree with Elios. His is the only theory that makes any real sense and has scientific backing.

And FYI, everyone knows that when you die, your body rots. The question is what happens to your consciousness after death, not your physical self. It's more abstract than that, if that makes sense.

"Theory of reincarnation" "It's all about recycling existence" with clarification of existence manifesting as "previous life memories"

You were pretty damn clear about it.

Which really begs the question, "what exactly does it mean that something should make sense?"
Reword your question so it makes sense.

Are you ESL? That English is fine, though without the subsequent analogy it's a little contextually bare. Let me provide you the beginning of the answer in a parallel structure...

Should something "make sense," it would (mean/be/suggest/amount to) ...

Correct.

Right, so if you're going to start making comparisons between your philosophy and a God based one, don't forget that both are manifestations of an aversion to death, and equally nonsensical.

Yes. Equally nonsensical. No matter how many nice sounding words - like "homeostasis" "electricity" "milliseconds" "conscious" "theory" - you throw in there, it's still just as much bullshit as God... and it's not actually electricity you're talking about anymore.

I cannot bear the fact that I will have something after I die in this world. I'm more of a materialist and would rather want to R.I.P. than my "soul" or anything else continue to live for eternity.

If you think you have any validity in your opinion, please reply to my post above with proper evidence. An opinion backed by false and ignorant science is automatically false, too. You can't just go making up facts because it makes you feel better about the after-life.

Oh hi there mr.straw man. I was trying to prove you wrong? When? I thought I was specifically avoiding that discussion with my analogy. How about...

"that is just my opinion...so like dude, what's your problem?"

What does that even mean? "its just my opinion."

Does that have any bearing on the validity of what's being said? Or is it just a disingenuous way to say, "I don't feel like listening to anyone who disagrees with me?"

Your sentiment betrays your message. If it's "just your opinion" then what the fuck is electricity doing in the mix? It's dishonest. So dishonest you've even bought into it as potentially objective... as is evident by your claim that it somehow makes more sense than God.

You've derived self-righteousness from utter bullshit. That's what bothers me. People are reading what you say, seeing the nice words, and assuming your conclusion is "backed" by science. That's what bothers me.

I'm bothered because "it's just my opinion" seems to hope for blind agreement and evade all dissension - so you can keep on feeling righteous.

The real irony is that nothing is just an opinion. It's all derived from something - and your philosophy actually counts on that - oh so insidiously.

No it's not.

1) seen it before.
2) it relies on variables outside a sense of self (the major one being electricity)

No, it's not perfect, and no, it probably doesn't make any sense to YOU, but i see logic and science in it.

My chocolate-on-the-sidewalk analogy is looking prophetic right now.

Mind you. It doesn't make any sense by scientific standards either - not just my own. And the idea that something is "just an opinion" is still inherently flawed.

But hey. At least you admit, in a round about way, that your philosophy is bullshit once it travels beyond your skull.
