Where is the midi? I WANT MY MIDI.
C:\WINDOWS\Media\onestop.mid lol this tune is great
My signature was old so I changed it.
It's good to see you guys are on top of this and working to iron out the kinks.
I was excited at first about the new auto-play options, but I guess most people are going to leave auto-play on anyway for pre-loaders to do their thing, so I'd better bite the bullet and update my Flashes with Play buttons so they behave nicely in this new NG era.
I wanted to report a small compatibility issue with the new "Related content" panel, in case you don't know about it already. In Firefox (I'm using Firefox 3.0, Windows XP), if you're an old codger like me and have set a minimum (enlarged) font size for easy reading--mine's set to 16--it will cause the "Related content" panel to extend down too far and overlap the Author Comments panel in non-wide mode (wide mode is okay). See attached screenshot for an example (page in the shot is http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/48 9619).
This is rad. Thanks for letting us choose. I'll be viewing stuff in classic mode.
Everyone at NG has secret accounts... Why are people so dumb?!?!
One problem I've found, is that when you expand the video, turn down the lights, or click any of the other layout buttons, it takes several back-clicks to get back to where you were.

But NG's killer navigation means this isn't a problem. :X

This actually doesnt happen in safari
i do like the fact that we can finally change the auto-play feature
kinda annoying if you ask me...
I honestly have to say Classic mode looks BETTER than the old design.
One slight problem with classic mode: you can't see the title of the movie anywhere on the page.
Lovely job! I like the layout , how it blows up. This may bring more artists and viewers to the site because it's got nice presentation. I dunno if any other site does this, but that BLOW UP feature is great! Wowsers.
Hmm, it's possible Newgrounds may lose some comments, reviews, and submission activities.
Becuase the content is at the very top suffocating the interactivity that used to be easily seen.
Review, vote, add favorites etc. There may be a possible drop in that. But in general, it's great presentation. It may drop in the beginning, but maybe it'll go back up. People get used to places they like ;).
Is there possible consideration to foreshadow there are things directly related to the content below?
Like 'Authors Coments Below!" very skinny or something on the side.
Hands down lovely job. Lovely progression, great vibe, and wonderful presentation. Let's see Newgrounds grow.
I only read a few pages of post, but it's clear from Tom's comments that the NG staff seems well aware of an online community's resistance to change. The recent Facebook layout change is a great example of this. People flipped out when the whole site changed recently, and I mean REALLY flipped out. There were all these new groups with hundreds of thousands of members dedicated to flaming the new layout. However, within a week or so, it all calmed down, because once people had gotten over the loss of their old, familiar layout, they began to see the benefits of the new one. After all, the NG staff is smart, and they would not throw a new layout at us if there had not been immense amounts of thought and consideration put into it. I hope that people have to balls to give this layout a shot for a week or so before they pass judgment, because otherwise they'll miss out on its potential.
A heavy bassline is my kind of silence.
Enjoy progressive house? Then listen to my song.
I like the new layout and it's good to see you raising the bar with updates. Keep up the good work!
Not just another drop in the ocean
Very tasty! Great with the opportunity to enlarge the format, taht was useful. :)
This is terrible for people like me who access Newgrounds on lower-resolution screens of 800pixels wide (portables, etc.).
Can you please make a special "mobile version" of Newgrounds, if you are set on having the standard definition be accessible only to high-resolution screens?
It seems to me that this wide layout does not add anything to the site except more horizontal space.
Thanks for the option to stop auto-play. I think I'm getting used to it now.
Ok, to be honest, it's not that bad.
It's definitely worse than it was before, yes (the layout fit my screen perfectly before), but not much worse than Youtube anyway; it just forces me to scroll sideways to see certain parts of the page.
But I do wonder if more and more people won't be accessing Newgrounds via small internet-capable devices in the future (that seems to be the trend), which would mean that the wide resolution would actually be a bad thing.
So it might be a good idea to invest some time in creating a "mobile" version of NG, if it's not too hard...
Personally, I will be getting the OpenPandora handheld soon (800px-wide screen) and using it to access Newgrounds. I assume that other people will be accessing this website from iPhone-like devices also.

My laptop resolution just supports the wide layout by about a pixel. It's really in your face on my computer and seems clunky without those sidebars on the un-wide Newgrounds if you know what I am saying.
I guess that's what you get from living in the 2005 generation of laptop monitors.
I dont get why your trying to throw more ads in. Most people here have adblock >_> And "Evolve and adapt" is a terrible excuse for throwing more ads in a pulling in more tweens.

Wouldn't work that way, sometimes the "You might like these" is under the movie in a long bar like table due to the original size of the movie.
I think they should move author/movie info and commentary above the flash, and that the similar movies should always be in the minimal bar form under the flash. :X

uh, I see the predicament.

I think the Flash author information panel should move out its classic format (a small box in the left corner) and just become 1 GIANT horizontal panel that covers the width of the web page. This would also appear with the comments above the flash.
Ah well, I'll leave the design up to the people actually programming it.
Maybe we could edit the layout similar to our userpage?
YAY.. now i can have the orginal layout back..
just let me change it here.... and... wait.. wtf!?...
why!!!.... why do you tempt me with orginal mode and not let me change!
NOW we're talking! =D great job! this should satisfy both old design lovers(like me) and the rest.
no more flaws from me mister! :D
oh never mind... i found it now :3
it always happens when i change the size of things... the buttons dont move untill you roll over them
Que picture proof
