Most people here have adblock >_> And "Evolve and adapt" is a terrible excuse for throwing more ads in a pulling in more tweens.Well skippy, these new fangled website majiggers apparently cost money to operate. For some reason the bandwidth providers, server farms and electrical companies all refuse to evolve so we can run the sute with no overhead.
And then there is the staff. Those greedy fuckers actually expect to get paid for their jobs, can you believe that shit?
Until all those unreasonable expenses fall in line and become free, we just have to keep adding more ads so the stupid idiots on this site who don't block all the ads can make up the revenue that gets lost by reasonable, supportive users like you.
I guess we could stop sharing all that revenue with the artists that submit here. Then we would need less ads... and maybe people would quit submitting here and we would have less bandwidth to pay for... yes I think this plan will work! Then you could enjoy the old stale content and NG would never have to evolve and adapt!
Well said. Everything on Newgrouds is free (except the stuff you have to pay for) so I have no reason to complain if there are more or less ads. I support advertising on many levels. If Network TV suddenly became pay to watch people would riot, but then when the stations claim TiVo took away ad revenue they won't want to give concessions and just watch the ads.
It's kind of ironic though. Keeping the classic view sort of nulls any reason the site needs to change the layout. Unless the Newgrounds web team comes up with a way to integrate the two. Personally I think the classic view is the best the site will ever be in terms of layout, so thanks for keeping it.
Wow, Psychogoldfish, was that really fucking necessary?
hey do you recon you can fix that night button problem i posted in the other topic?
its a real pain in the ass

Does that answer your question?
Thanks for putting the classic view option back.
This is what I predict will happen in the next update:
- Author & Information Info will actually show up in Classic Mode
- That box won't be in the way of the account buttons in Wide Mode
- The Trophies will be moved right above the Medals in Classic Mode (it's better like that!)
- Some of the blank spaces in both Wide and Classic Mode will be taken out/changed

I appreciate what you're doing and everything, but the wide view hurts my eyes, and in my opinion the bigger sizes look unnatural.
Hopefully there can be some middle ground.
And it probably won't happen, but I like puddinN64's idea too.

But you have to be a member to change those settings. What about the people that don't have accounts?
GOOD IDEA. :D
Being able to choose between the Classic and wide layout formats is great, and I love the additional options for wide layout mode. I know the designs aren't final, but here are some issues that I have:
- For Classic mode, the title of the movie/game you're viewing no longer appears on the page. So if you link to the movie from certain places (i.e. a user's newspost) you won't know what the movie is called before watching it! (Of course the title is displayed on the header of your browser window, at least for Internet Explorer, but people may not realize that.)
- For wide layout mode, the movie/game icon isn't visible. So if you were in the same aforementioned scenario, you wouldn't be able to see the icon before viewing the movie.
- And for BOTH modes, the voting icons are a bit small for the space they're in. I think they'd look far better if they were big enough to completely fill that space.
Well, there's my opinion. Hope it helps you guys. :)
P.S. Since the site's moving towards a wider design overall, maybe we can extend that 25 character limit on flash titles, eh?

I'll play around to see which is best for my submissions. As I said before, square resolutions don't fit well within my small laptop screen. In fact, my game is supposed to be played at the resolution I set it at.

Does that answer your question?
lol
Will redesign keep the newgrounds shapes and just be turned to wide, or you are also changing the graphics in some way?
everything, by me ;)
Cool!
Thank you so much. I knew you guys rock.

Nice Job!!
The Dark On Our Side!
I don't like the new layout very much at all. Even when you switch to classic mode, the page still looks weird...
I'm a semi-responsible newgrounds user.
Thank you so much for understanding us, you loveable NG staff members XD
I really appreciate the work you put in creating the wide layout, but I prefer the classic look, so thanks both ways. Seriously.
I guess I'll trust you on the related content and give it more time to sort itself out

it doesnt show me that i get the medals, even i unlocked them ingame. when i restart the page they are still locked.
even if i turn off the internet and go back then they arent there.
Love the new option of "Play"...awaiting the day when you make it look good too.
As much as I love the new view, and don't plan on switching back, I miss one thing about the classic view is the little X button on the top right, with some flashes like the Street Fighter Collab and it's menu music I miss it so much it makes me wanna cry.
I wanna be able to stop the animation or game while maintaining the current page, Can you be a dear and try that for me :D??

Then buy a larger monitor and crank up your resolution! What is your resolution set to now?
I've been running 1600x1200 for years. I think I was using 1280x960 (or whatever) back in 2000 or earlier.

Not everyone can afford a new monitor or is willing to buy one just so a websites appearance looks slimmer.

I have a pretty large monitor, that's not the problem. I just don't really like it being wide, I somehow find it overwhelmingly big (lol) but that may just be me. I think I'll get used to it as long as you widen the voting bar and stuff.
Nice update!
That play button is really ugly and bland, I wish somebody over at the NG office could pretty it up a bit... Other than that, I'm really impressed with where this wide thing is going and that there's an option to keep it classic as well. Thanks for being so awesome! Newgrounds just keeps gettting better and better :)
Its cool, thought now when i go on newgrounds on my phone it just disconnects me :S

Buy a new Fone and crank up it's Awesome a bit. What is your awesome set to now??
I've been running Over 9000 for years. I think I was using 8999 or w/e back in 2000 or earlier
This is awesome! With the darker screen thing I can finally feel like I'm at the cinema! YAY POPCORN
Oh, yay. I like the classic mode better. I don't know, I just didn't like the wide layout, it was too much for me. It's still really glitchy for me, I hope you guys will fix this, but the whole page still feels really buggy.
so you can click moive or games so you can't click "watch a moive!" or "play a game!" so is update can you watch or play is atuomadiede!
hail to the flippy,baby baby!

Any monitor that is less than 10 years old should be capable of displaying NG properly. Some people may just need to up the resolution setting.
i like the autoplay. Sounds good to me!
