First off, that picture is stretched out. The desktop isn't messy, it's just that the icons aren't sorted, since I had just moved a few images around. Also, you can arrange the icons however you want if you use them, as you can quite clearly see in this fine example of the word cock. Below is a lower resolution picture of the glorious deskcock, for you lazy asses who won't click a link.

There are a couple ways to change it but it requires some messing around in the terminal. Pretty easy to do though, you can find a guide here

Alternatively, when you press command+shift+3 to take your screenshot, you can also hold down the ctrl key to copy the image to your clipboard. That way when you open photoshop or preview or w/e you can just paste the image and save it as a jpg. But skitch makes that all easier anyway :P
