From what I remember about the Microsoft conference:
- Halo: ODST
Meh
- MGS: Rising
Unimpressed at the minute, seems to be riding in too much on an MGS high. I can accept cash in's, but this is really pushing the boat out.
- Gears of War
Shadow Complex?
- Splinter Cell
Meh
- Left 4 Dead 2
Money spin. Retail map packs instead of DLC. Fair enough though, Valve need to top up the coffers.
- Modern Warfare 2
Shared the music from the first one, so I hope that was the only cost cut. Skidoo gunplay was amazing if not getting away from "realistic"
- Forza 3
Awesome
- Tony Hawk...?
A gimmick at best. Why don't they just return to the pinnacle of the series? Use THPS3 format, those games made the franchise for a reason.
Don't forget that interactive boy thing, that was their wanking material I expect.
A lot of FPS action, respectable but a little old.
A small percentage in comparison to the rest.
Nintendo:
- New Super Mario Bros Wii
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
Galaxy good, Super Mario Bros not too fussed (Galaxy is the only game that convinced me to play Mario admittedly)
- Metroid: Other M
No data, always thought of it as a behind the times FPS. Side scroll Metroid was where it was at.
- Golden Sun DS
Awesome. Nothing else to say.
- Mario + Luigi 3
As above
- Spirit Tracks (Not really new)
Train=Boat
Looking at it like that cheapens it somewhat, but it's a Zelda game so it's a given that it will exude quality. Unusual that they're running with the Wind Waker universe though, makes it the longest running now I think. (same Link wise)
- The Conduit
- Resident Evil
- Dead Space
....
I'm kind of anticipating MGS for the PS3, since the picture of Big Boss on the Konami teaser site isn't explained yet. Then we can speculate.
Cross platform online play, with exclusivities dependant on your console. That would surely flare same fanboy rage again. Raiden won't seem quite so cool.
