It is not directly hurting anyone, but the symbol is what matters. Flags are symbols, and the Confederate Flag is a symbol of the Confederacy, which was based entirely around the enslavement of a part of the human race. If not for slavery, the south would never have seceded, as that was the major political topic of the entire first half of the 19th century.

Black people are still butthurt about something that happened at least a century ago?

Actually the secession movement started when the US imposed tariffs that hurt the south's economy back in the 1820s and South Carolina wasn't too happy with it. The slavery part didn't come into play until the 1840s - 1850s.

I believe it's stupid to ban a flag. Of any sort- no matter what it represents. Now, if you want to ban it so the public place - or people that work there - they're at can't fly it or the like, that's fine. If you want to ban it so others who are visiting can't fly it, it seems a bit silly.

Sure the flag DOES represent a shitty part of history overall- and it certainly doesn't represent the (current) south accurately. But if you want to wave that flag or support its ideals through non-violent ways, I believe you should have the right to go ahead with that. Just be aware what it means.
