There are quite a lot of zero-calorie soft drinks on the market. Diet, zero, the companies brand them with different things.

I don't know for the most recent ones, but diet soft drinks usually have aspartame to replace sugar.

The problem is aspartame:
1. Tastes crappy
2. Is presumably cancerous

Now imagine if they found a sugar substitute that would taste EXACTLY like sugar, would have zero calorie and would induce no damage to your system (cancer-free).

In other words, you get the same soft drink, minus the diabeetus* and other problems related to carbohydrates.

Would you buy/drink it instead of the regular one? Would the regular one be discontinued because people would all switch to the calorie-free one?

*Correct spelling is diabetes

In the end, they're all molecules. Even natural molecules are chemical.

Isn't it strange how people enjoy the classic/traditional recipes even if they taste just as good and aren't as healthy.

I suppose that it would make sense that everyone would switch to the healthier better tasting brand... unless it was more expensive, and usually healthy food is more expensive that artery clogging cancer causing junk food.

So there would still be the old brands, but for poor people. Because no one loves poor people.

But my thread is just a fictive situation. It's not aspartame. I mentioned it was like if there was no sugar, yet it tastes like it.

That's because it's made with aspartame. Reread my post.

Well either way you're fucked, if you take too much sugar you might end up with diabetes, if you take the other shit you might end up with some more shit.

Meh. Everything causes cancer if you read the Daily Mail.

Anyway, I'd rather die happy with a can of Diet coke in my hand than miserable thanks to the beverage of Satan, otherwise known as Coca Cola Zero.

Yes, I do indeed know Diet coke is marketed towards women.

...and with that post, people of Britain were so surprised that "tea was spilled, crumpets were dropped and monocles everywhere popped out in shock."

The funny case here is that as far as I'm concerned, the use of aspartame isn't all that carcinogenous if you don't drink it like 24 cans a day
I personally prefer light cola most of the time, since I hate the aftertaste of sugar in cola. Doesn't apply in energy drinks though: the sweetener aftertaste in them makes me almost want to puke. Strange but true.

My problem with diet coke is that it tastes like shit. Coke isn't the best tasting drink to begin with, start taking out the addictive ingredients, and you have some weird vegetable extract drink.

The only reason you'd switch to a sugar free version of anything is if you're guzzling enough of it to give yourself problems in the first place, and are being a retard about changing that bad habit.

Even if they invent a completely safe chemical to use as an alternative, it wouldn't stop people damaging themselves from the sheer amounts some of them get through (read: so much that even the water gets to a toxic level).

Remember: it's not what, but how much. This applies to ANYTHING edible/ingestible.

The lab formulated cancerous chemicals found in these diet beverages are the main reason I purchase them over the sugary more refreshing form.

I thought this was interesting...They have this zero-calorie sweetener at Safeway called "Truvia," which is supposedly made from steeping the leaves of the "stevia" plant, like you were making tea, and through one process of another this gets a sweetener akin to sugar.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevia

Completely natural. Japan and South America have been using this shit for ages.

What if this was substituted for the artificial sweeteners we use these days? 'Cause, honestly, Aspartame and Sucralose can eat my dick.

Everyone would probably quit buying them, and after awhile the "Diet Coke" would end up being normal coke.
It still woulden't make fat people skinner though.

Interesting stuff.

Anyone ever notice how everything gives you cancer?
Cancer isn't really preventable or curable.
It just happens.

Johnny is a pretty cool guy. He goes to Newgrounds and doesn't afraid of anything.
