COMPLETE edition of the interactive "choose next panel" comic
4.09 / 5.00 15,161 ViewsI've decided this animation collab should happen because of all the excess animators that are looking for a team in Power of Three.
So, what I'm going to do is write up a crazy awesome script, get it recorded (professionally, in a recording studio 'n' everything :O), and design characters and backgrounds.
Break the script up into thirty parts (it may be a long script), and then give each person a part, the more difficult parts going to more experienced animators, who have to follow (with their own style) the character designs and backgrounds, and the audio, which I will be sending them.
So, pretty much, right now, all that is needed is 30 animators who are willing, because I don't want to go and do all that work for five people.
You CAN be in a Power of Three team already, as this will require a lot less work than Power of Three from each person.
So, Luis, if you really feel the need, sure.
Otherwise, the preference is those who aren't on a team, who still want to do something.
I hope to make this worthwhile.
If the animation is kept simple enough, hopefully we can make it a fairly long animation, too.
FPS = 24
Size = 700 x 400 (we're living widescreen)
Background = White (Standard)
As the script and characters will already be designated, I don't think I need to point out that there shouldn't be any nudity or sprites (sometimes considered the same thing), and also, quite clearly, no sticks.
Another obvious statement, I hope, is that, later on, when we get into this, if you create a graphic or movie clip, it should have your username before it, followed by an underscore or hyphen, to prevent any unnecessary confusion on our end.
So, if your username is 'EyeLovePoozy' and you want to make a movieclip called 'YouAreBanned', it should be called 'EyeLovePoozy_YouAreBanned'.
Musicians, too, would be helpful, as I want to get as much music from here on Newgrounds as possible, and keep as far away from reality as possible.
So, if anybody's interested, please show that interest now, via posts here in this thread, or pm's, or even emails to the_nightbreaker@hotmail.com
But you have to be a serious part in this, and you have to be able to show that you can animate something more than a ball bouncing.
Our Starting date, I suppose, should be, appropriately, June 5th.
Our Ending date, I suppose, should be, also quite appropriately, I believe, September 5th.
If it gets done before then, that would be great.
I will keep an alt account running with nothing but updates for this collab, found at http://p37.newgrounds.com/
I'll keep the most up-to-date lists of people joined, etc, there.
As, if this thing takes off, as I hope it does, details may get lost in the thread, which can happen sometimes.
I already have the idea worked out and refined, it's just a matter of getting it down in an order that my voice acting friends can understand.
As a few final necessary details, I don't think any money should be made with this particular endeavor, as splitting it amongst 30(+) people would be ridiculous, so, I'll go with Tom's idea, and have it that if any money IS made, it will go to a charity of most popular request, I suppose.
Also, Co-authoring may be a little difficult, but whoever does the hardest yards will have more chance, to be put simply.
Everybody will get linked appropriately where possible.
To wrap everything up, Power of Thirty, a collab for animators left over. Script be written, parts be given.
I've stayed up quite late, working this out, and now I need to sleep.
So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish.
Nightbreaker.
PS. Please Keep This Pumped and Bumped ;)
I have realy no experience, but I could write the script, I guess. I've won awards at school for playwriting. Count me in!

Sweet.
Also, I should mention, that this collab has been pre-approved by Luis.
I for one, think this is an amazing idea (not that my lowly opinion matters). I am wish to take part in this collaboration as well. If you need an example of my work as I have no portal entries, PM me.
this is my trig.

I would but I currently have no FINISHED animations. The reason I dont want to show all unfished animations is that I might, well, finish them some day.

I feel un-loved. And my translator says you just called me a female dog. What a lame insult.

Looool, that's like the best quote ever! No need to feel insulted, I was just kidding :P
How long do you think the parts will be? I'd be up for it if it's not too long a project.

30 seconds to one minute for each person.
As, having 30 people, they can't be overly long, unless we want to break it into parts, because otherwise it could easily be over 30 minutes.
So I'm hoping that people will put as much effort into the little time they are given, and make it as amazing as possible.
Sadly I'm a music artist not a animator... Is there anything I can do? If so message it to me on message me on AIM
To make it less daunting, I will sorta tell you the general idea of what the plot will be following.
Basically it follows the story of one guy who gets granted only one wish, and he chooses to wish that he can fly.
Having grown up on lots of comic books, etc, he quickly creates a superhero alter-ego, and sets out to save people, but soon finds that only being able to fly isn't enough, and the population makes it known.
It's obviously going to be better when read through. I mean, thirty second summaries always sound lame.
Summarize Harry Potter in 30 seconds and it sounds like THE lamest story ever.

this sounds fun and im deff interested but!
questions? maybe i need to reread the rules and shit but. your going to cut up this script into 30 differant parts and hand em out at random? so some might end upwith fun action scenes while others kinda lamer scenes.... though i do like the story bieng a comic fan myself

I suppose.
Okay, I'll make it so that the thirty parts are the mix, and that if somebody gets a boring part, I'll split both an interesting part, and a boring part, in half. And then share it among two people, so that they both get the interesting aand the necassary evil of boring stuff
but i hope that none of this animation is particularly boring.
I like the idea - is it meant to be humourous? I get that vibe from it. I'd like to see what part I might be getting, but I think I'd like to join up. I'm almost a perfectionist, so I would put in plenty of effort. PM me if you want to see some animation I've done (never really finished anything).

Yes, humorous is the way to go. I'll try and get a few Newground references in there as well.
Count me in as a Musican! I will try and make some new music!

Alright, I've reviewed the numbers, etc, and decided that 20 animators, 1 programmer, 3 musicians, 5 voices and myself makes thirty quite nicely.
I'm working on the script now. If anybody knows any decent animators that would be willing to join, could you send them a link to this thread?
Tom suggested that I should write it about 30 of something. I'll see if I can weasel something in, but thirty of something in a short movie could be a little too much.
I really wouldn't mind if this collab worked out. It may be a bit ambitious, but I'M certainly going to put in the hard yards in hope of 20 animators helping out.
So, really, the aim was for those who didn't make Po3 teams, but really, any animator can join in. It shouldn't be too much effort on their behalf.
I might join, pm me in a day or so plz...

When you're writing the script, and trying to fit in 30 of something somewhere, I'd suggest that you don't put in 30 of anything significant in the story, like 30 rescues or something, because that would most definately not work. Make the link with 30 be subtle.
more animators.. theres only a few of us here now. already sent couple of invitations to some animators i know. http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/post/reply /1063796#
Hey I'd like to join, I've never really been in a collab before!
I'll be in as an animator, if you would have me.
