I was at a wedding the other day and I noticed how very religious they are. If atheists arent religious, how do they get married? Is there a preist? Do they get married in a church? I just dont understand it.

You're able to do it in a registry office.

i would guess a judge does it.

My opinions are so useless, I don't even listen to them.

Marriage is an official, and not legal, deceleration of love, not necessarily a religious ceremony.

Edn.

Because all proper tea, is theft.

Or you just don't bother with the paperwork. Many couples just promise to each other without making it official. I had an uncle who did that, and it worked fine.

I know that. But I always thought people wanted very "Spectacuar" weddings, not just get married at a registry office.

A wedding doesn't mean your married. I can get a preacher to say some words to me and a girl, but we're not married until papers are filled out by a judge.

So, I would guess that atheists wouldn't have religious ceremonies at their weddings.

Church is just a ceremony. Everyone get's married the same, signing papers and stuff. The ceremony is just optional.

It's a declaration of how much X loves Y and vice-versa. That's really it. That and it makes them legally bound.

I've made my mind up, there's going to be trouble.

Thats pretty boring though compared to what you could have dont you think? I mean least with a typical wedding you can have the ceremony and food etc.

Marriage is a two-part thing. 1 is the Sacrament of Marriage (Religious) and the other is legal marriage (secular). I guess Atheists skip the first part, but what would I know. I'm Catholic.

It doesn't exactly have to be religious.
My cousin's atheist, she got married near a river and her brother "married" them. They already did the whole registry thing, but they had a fun ceremony too.

They have a marige in there back yard - minus the preist. Instead, they get some hip-hop DJ to come in and read some lines, then they kiss. the end.

The same way as everyone else, you ignorant child. No matter what your religious background, you need to see a judge to be legally married.

Get the captain of a ship to do it. Nautical wedding. It wards off storms on the open sea.

Or so I heard.

...and with that post, people of Britain were so surprised that "tea was spilled, crumpets were dropped and monocles everywhere popped out in shock."

My mom and dad got married on my mamaw's back porch. With a preist.

Even if they are atheist, they usually have a church wedding due to the fact that it's traditional.

It's not confusing, my cousin got married, he isn't religious.
They got married at Dubley Hall in Sheffield, not in a church.

If I ever married my boyfriend, what we'd probably end up doing is, obviously, applying for the marriage license through the courthouse first, and then get a justice of the peace or someone who is licensed to do marriages and take them to wherever the venue is.

I don't necessarily want a church wedding or something huge if I ever get married, but I still want stuff like a cake and a white dress. You only get to do it once (hopefully), so I don't want to miss out.

That really is the best way because other ways are pretty low budge I think someone would want something like that to last forever.

That's like asking, "How to atheists celebrate Christmas?"

They just do.
