Every intelligent being in Star Trek is a fucking humanoid (i.e. their physical structure is basically the same as a human's). That is EXTREMELY unlikely to be the case in reality. I know they're basing the movie off of the TV show, but it seems kind of outdated in today's day and age to go against the laws of probability.

Furthermore, the producers show they don't know shit about space. There is no fucking sound where there is no fucking atmosphere. Black Holes do not magically "gulp" up the material around them so fast like they do in the movie. Traveling faster than light would require more than an infinite amount of energy according to present calculations and is almost undeniably impossible. And most fucked up of all, beaming: WTF?

Then again, it is just a science fiction movie. Nonetheless a crap one. Action wasn't that great, many failed attempts at humor, and a lot of things just plain didn't make sense: despite having the ability to warp drive and travel faster than light, Mr. Jim Kirk can still outrun a police motorcycle. Bullshit.

Yes, you've answered to yourself. That's what "fiction" is supposed to mean, you know
The reason of why everyone is so humanoid, is exatcly because they're trying to be "realistics", but not exagerating with monsters with tentacles
And I think you're wrong. It's much more probable that other inteligent lifeforms are humanoids than any other thing, considering that for a planet to support inteligente life, would need to have the same aspects as our planet, then it would produce similar biological specimes, within evolution course
So, yeah, probably inteligente forms would have 2 arms with hands, maybe a different number of fingers, but with articulated tumbs, 2 legs, foots might be different, a torso that could be larger, smaller and so on, but still a torso, and a head to support a brain, being smaller or bigger on a especific case.

It doesn't really matter...
Star Trek sucks hard

Yes, because obviously warp drives and faster than light travel were small enough to fit on a police motorcycle.

Obviously.

in the 1960's when Star Trek first started they didn't have the effects needed to make the aliens now.

and even today its just much cheaper to make everyone a humanoid.

You're right that a planet would need similar aspects as our planet to probably support life, but evolution has many potential paths, and intelligent beings are not restricted to one

Yes, because obviously warp drives and faster than light travel were small enough to fit on a police motorcycle.

Probably not, but you would think that there is a contradiction in technological advancement here nonetheless: the police car should have still been well equipped enough to easily chase down the car Kirk was driving.

How could someone not like that movie?

Someone was getting their ass kicked through the entire thing, basically.

Plus, there was explosions and alien tits.

Well, almost alien tits.

lol. Calculations limit objects with mass going with c, but does not limit them to go over if somehow you could leap over the infinate energy spike at the speed of light.

Anyway I personally believe that there is no such thing, but according to calculations there is no reason why it wouldn't be possible.

Babyma. It's fiction.

Verisimilitude before realism.

Mind you. It's no accomplishment to find fault in science fiction - especially when the faults aren't subtle, nor posited as intellectual hypotheticals. In other words, there's no real reason to get bent out of shape, because the suspension of disbelief asked of the viewer holds no consequence beyond the context of the movie.

That's like saying a regular police car should be able to chase down a Bugatti Veyron running at top speed because fighter jets can go faster.

Yes, there is the technology to make things go very fast, no it doesn't always fit into police cars.

It was a Sci-Fi movie, a Star Trek movie at that (meaning it had to be the same as possible.)
And aren't you that same bitch who kept whining about some Project XYZ thing awhile back?

Yeah...I have a looooong memory.

Here's a surprise Mr Trekkie - the ACTUAL SERIES has sapient non-humanoids. Besides the Q, there are numerous etheral beings seen in numerous episodes (eg. TNG with Crusher's possessed lamp, Enterprize with the possessive ship), there are intellegent robots (TOS, TNG) amongst others such as microbes (TNG) and other dimensional beings (VOY). Perhaps watch the TV show and ignore the shitty film.

Yes, it was shit - for a Trek film it was not Trek and the out door scenes were horrible to see.

Sorry for the bump, but there is also a thing that if you are moving too fast it can't lock onto your atoms and beam you anywhere.

That and as said before, it needs to be pretty big to use.

Since we really can't compare ourselves to other life in the universe, considering we don't have evidence that there is any, we will never know why Star trek humanoids are smarter than the weirder looking fictional aliens.

Shame.

What?

I mean, they could always use sonic stuff to simulate sound liek in Star Wars.

Or I at least think George Lucas said something like that..
