you're right and wrong. death magnetic sounds nothing like old metallica. its too loud. new metallica is just trying out to be more like current metal bands, which they shouldnt do. best metallica album was ride the lightning. although i do love ... and justice for all.

The new Metallica definitely sucks.

Metallica is one of the most popular bands around and one of my favorites. The new album doesn't suck, it's one of their best in years. Their last few albums went downhill, and so was the band until they came back with Death Magnetic. I actually prefer All Nightmare Long and Master of Puppets more than most of their older songs.

I went to a Metallica cover band concert a few weeks back and throughout the show, the crowd would shout "play Master of Puppets!!" until eventually the band decided to play it for the crowd, and throughout the song, the audience would sing along in the chorus lol.

Slipknot is the reason metal sucks today. Everyone in the band is a sub-par musician. Corey Taylor can't sing. The guitarists play power chords. There are two members who run around on stage and hit kegs with baseball bats (INTENSE MUSICIANSHIP THERE, EH?). They have a DJ... I mean normally, I wouldn't have to say anything more than that, but then on top of a guy who occasionally scratches a record, they throw some guy with a spiked mask in the mix to press a button to make creepy noises. The bassist does not even exist. I can't think of a single Slipknot song where the bass even comes close to pushing out of the rest of the noise.

And then theres Joey Jordison. The most over-rated drummer of the last 20 years. If you honestly think that Joey Jordison is one of the best drummers out there then you need to expand your horizons. Vitek from Decapitated, may he rest in peace, could drum faster and more cohesively than Jordison ever could, from his grave. For that matter, most death metal drummers could. And then you have drummers like Mike Mangini, Mike Portnoy, and Brian Mantia who absolutely shit on Joey Jordison without breaking a sweat.

i.love.you. i would've put dave lombardo on that list too, but whatever. and @ 2hot2rock: neil peart is amazing. and you dont understand what overrated means. neil peart is amazing and lemme guess, you dont like him because he doesnt do blast beats right? you probably judge drummers on how fast they go when theres much more than that. i.e. joey isnt even fast at all, its called ghost pedals. all he does is double bass, snare, cymbal. and the 70's had some of the most influential andm musically talented bands of all time. it didnt suck, if anything most bands of today suck.

dude are you fucking serious? i mean you dont have to like them but dont bash on their musical skill. im not saying they're the best musicians in the world because this would obviously be untrue. but they are one of the most skilled metal bands musically. death metal is nothing but horrible strumming of minor notes and some guy screaming or growling sounding like hes trying to fit in to the safari or something.

corey has like 20 differnet voices in some songs he screams and others he sings slow, very good at it too. joeys awesome, you gotta hear his double bass drumming then you'll understand. now neil peart doesnt suck be he's highly overrated. hes mediocre id say.

just listen YYZ all he does is go "bum bum bum ba bum bum bum bum" or Tom Sawyer. im just saying joey would blow him out of the wind anyday. not to mention their singers sounds like a woman and add gay sound effects to their songs and stuff.

ok if you want good death metal listen to opeth, they own slipknot 100 times over. and you proved my point, all joey does is double bass and even then he cheats at it, reference to ghost pedals.also proved my point on neil peart, yes he does drum slow but it doesnt have to be super fast to be good. slipknot is also nu-metal not deathmetal so quiet. as for deathmetal sounding like growls mikael from opeth is 10 times better at singing than corey will ever be. people think slipknot is good because they have 9 people, so i could make a band with TWENTY people and everyone would think my band was good. in end slipknot is too simple, monkeys could replace that band.

this isnt meant to start another arguement but since you're 13 this makes more sense. i've noticed that every slipknot fan i know eventually grew out of liking them. i too liked slipknot, then i listened to other bands and thought " dear god slipknot is bad" you may grow out of it, you may not.

As much as I dislike Metal, I have some respect for Metallica in that their name doesn't scare me like the majority of metal bands.

Metallica just plain sucks it hard, don't get me wrong I love metal, but Metallica is highly overrated.

Yeah I don't actually hate Metallica I was just being a typical smartass. While I dont hate Metallica I never go out of my way to listen to any of their songs.

I dont find any metallica to be good. Cut off my ears, i really dont care. Ive never thought metallica was all that good, i only like 1 song which is One only because the video Johnny with a gun is cool with that.

I admit something I haven't expressed in a long time. Metallica have bunches of skills, and I'm not going to name Metallica "new", quite frankly, they're old. Metallica is Metallica, they all have the original members except the bassist.

I only own four albums, Master of Puppets, Black Album, Load, and Death Magnetic. I prefer Master of Puppets way more than those other three. I had a problem with Death Magnetic's quality, it was too compressed or some shit. The drums weren't very good.

Also, there is only one thing I don't like. It's the length of their songs, sure I can hear a story through the music, but not every song. I just can't listen to my iPod for one and a half hours listening to an album.

unfortunately, new metallica does suck, they just lost their spark, and quite frankly after master of puppets (which is all genius btw) they started going downhill! When they play their old songs, from kill 'em all etc. They're not the same! They just...aren't. They arn't greasy acne riddled teenages anymore, they're old thrashers past their time!
