3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsAround the time a new president is forced into office in America I begin making predictions of how things will pan out and for the most part, I have been correct. I knew that George Bush would be the precursor to a black president that would take the saying "we've been through the roughest, how much worse off could we be if we had a black president?" to a whole new fucking level.
I predict that Barack Obama is about to fall on his ass hard to make way for a Republican president that is even worse then Bush and Obama combined and either he will be the anti Christ or will continue the downward spiral and after him we will have an even worse, more left wing "president" then Barack Obama who will ban all guns, put limitations on the freedom of speech and give all of our money to shit countries like Sudan.
This thread is for all of the kooky predictions that everyone makes, have no shame and let them fly. INB4 "bro stfu mate, damn this shit's so gay, get a life, Barack Obama rules". This is not an Obama thread either, so be mature.
Let's see...
2010 the power shifts in congress from left to right.
shortly after Nancy Pelosi decides SHE'S going to be the 1st woman president, then begins her presidential campaign 2 years early by tearing Obama apart every chance she gets. Either that or Barney "Meat Muncher" Frank is going to decide he's going to be the first gay president.
come 2012 Either Obama's popularity will be so low that his colleagues tell em to back down, or he will run against Bobby Jindal.
2014 the power shifts back to democrat hands in congress, they begin their smear campaign anew against Jindal.
2016 it will be Jindal vs Old Crow Pelosi or Meat Munchin' Frank.
I'm not crazy, everyone else is.
My prediction for the 2010 Scottish independence referendum is we vote yes. Westminster gets all in our faces and fucks us over denying us our democratic rights. Their is civil war in the UK. The US helps out the wee nation of Scotland because they fought the queen 200 years ago and think why not let us beat her ass for a second time.
Thus the Windsor family will be butt hurt by 2 score and 4 and all the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation immigrants in New York will have something decent to celebrate :P

Jesus Christ, I know the OP said kooky predictions, but these are about the dumbest and most implausible series of ideas I've ever heard. The idea that Bobby Jindal would even be able to run for president in the face of his Kenneth the Page speech in response to Obama is literally laughable.
And I've been meaning to ask you: what the fuck is going on with the self-quoting you've been doing around here these days? It's one thing to say something smart that you believe in, but it's another altogether to quote yourself and then, oddly enough, attribute it to yourself as if you were being quoted by another person. It makes you look like a fucking dipshit who's starved for attention, and a trained artist in the field of autofellatio.
You believe in the AntiChrist?
I think your comments sound a bit racist.

I believe in 2010 the Republicans will gain ground in congress but not quiet get a majority (Senate dem 52 Rep 48. House Dem 234 Rep 201) Obama's approval rating will hover around 52 percent. At the end of 2010 Palin will anounce her candidacy for president along with Jindal and Mark Stanford. in the middle of 2012 it will be Jindal winning the canidacy chosing Charlie Christ as his vice president.
The 2012 election will be very close but Jindal and Christ will barely win, winning 63 million votes to Obama's 61 million and Jindal/Christ will win 280 electoral votes.
2010: Democrats maintain their super-control of two branches of government.
2012: Obama is still popular and wins re-election. However, the Democrat brand is in trouble and they begin loosing in congressional/senate races.
2014: The legislature is split 50/50 D & R.
2016: The Paul/Kucinich ticket surprises everyone by taking the Libertarian nomination and the White House.

Sometime in the next few years, Obama's going to be assassinated. It's gonna be Kennedy-Johnson-Nixon all over again. Biden will take over and address important domestic problems but totally screw over foreign policy, and then we'll get some lunatic ultra-conservative in office (my money's on Huckabee) who makes it illegal to breathe.
But then again, I'm a pessimist.

If the economy doesn't get back on it's feet soon enough and if the Republicans keep self-destructing there could potentially be a strong third party candidate in 2016. Who it will be, that's the better question. Paul couldn't pull it off though, that's for sure.
One thing's pretty certain, and that's Obama will get reelected and will serve out both terms.

2010: Democrats lose some of their majority in the houses and (by now) have not changed the political complexion of the supreme court. Not sure if they lose the majority completely, but all signs point to yes if they keep droning on about the "death" of the Republicans (and thus repeat the mistakes made by them not two decades before)
2012: Obama narrowly wins a second term against a Cheny/Jindal ticket
2016: The pendulum finishes its swing, and the Republicans are swept to power only to mistakenly claim the "death" of the Democrats - and the return swing begins.

I think that for the first time in Nova Scotia History the NDP Party has a chance to win the Provincial election. People have had enough BS from the Tory Party (Conservatives) & the last straw was their attempt to pass new laws allowing them to stop paying down our Provincial Debt & spend that money on their pet projects & to boost their popularity in the regions where they have elected members.
Will it make much difference ...I doubt it, but since we have always been ruled by Liberal or Conservative Governments & they've put us more than 12 billion dollars in debt (there are not even 1 million people in this Province) people are tired of it.
Backroom deals, selling our Provincial Electrical Company with over 4 billion in taxpayers assets, to a companhy owned & controlled by Conservative backers is grating on many people.
Cutting taxes & then simutaneously raising rates on everything, cutting services & we're poorer than before, & people can see it in the loss of buying power.
Telling people to stop complaining about the high price of gas & take the bus, while they are buying SUV's with taxpayer money & driving them using government creditcards to buy the gas. (that really pissed a lot of people off) when that story hit the news.
The way I look at it is how can they do any worse. But on June 9th we'll see if people will decide we've got nothing to lose. Who knows if they win, they may actually do some good. IF they just screw everything up, then its same old ,same old & we're all pretty resigned & used to that !

Plus I don't think Cheney is looking for a VP spot again with all his bashing, I'd think he's hoping either to run for the presidency himself, or he's looking for some kind of consultancy or cabinet posting. Or maybe he just really really likes the spotlight...but I tend to think there's got to be some sort of rewarding end game he has in mind here other then to just have lots of people hear him disagree with the current administration.
My hopes are for Ron Paul and Jesse Ventura. It'll never happen, but at least they'll do some protesting, so I'll give them that.

The job of a third party candidate is to get the mainstream parties to adopt parts of his platform. Ron Paul failed miserably at that. He made had not impact at all on this race. In the unlikely event that he accomplished anything, it was making the the Republicans more Hawkish, and the Democrats more statist. The man is a senile, racist disaster and his internet fans are blind to the fact that his policies have no popular support in this country at all.
As for my prediction:
The economy will slowly begin to recover, and barring some major terrorist attack or foreign policy crisis(which actually probably will happen) the Republicans will still be floundering in 2010 where they fail to gain many, if any seats in the legislature back, while the Democrats proceed with a moderate liberal social and economic agenda singnificantly, but not radically left of Bill Clinton. Palin, Jindal, Huckabee, Romney, and Gingrich will run in 2012. Despite personal issues, and huge grassroots support for Palin bordering on fanaticism, Gingrich will use his relative lack of baggage, along with his conservative credentials and ties to the establishment to win the GOP nomination. Everyone aside from Gingrich and the GOP faithful will realize however that he's merely being offered up as a sacrifical lamb to the nigh unbeatable Obama, who polls in the low sixties and picks up several swing states from 2008 in the 2008 election. Despite winning a nearly landslide victory, he will lose some of the southern states that just barely tilted for him in 2008, further giving the GOP a reputation as a southern regional party. In 2016 the GOP will attempt to take itself kicking and screaming toward the center. Sarah Palin will be about as well regarded as Jonathan Edwards or Al Sharpton by then. The 2016 Republicans will be Cantor, Jindal agaim(soon to follow Palin's Pageant-walk into Irrelevancy) and some western governors/congressman. Hillary probably won't run for the democrats, but Webb, Mark Warner, Katherine Sebelius, Brian Schweitzer of Montana or Maybe even Jennifer Granholm of Michigan(if she can improve her approval rating, she could be a rockstar for the democrats) Whoever wins the nomination though, I think one of the main stories of 2016 will be "the Obama Legacy" which will be incredibly favorable towards him, and will help the democratic candidate, whoever he or she is, ride into office. This may be the last Democrat elected for a while, as the democrats will eventually overreach, and the Republicans will jettison the religious right. This won't be a major issues at all, since the religious right will continue its decline in influence, and finally realize that that abortion and gay marriage have won. ONce that happens they'll splinter off into conservative populist democrats, apathetic voters, and a hollow shell of what once was the "
moral majority". This will bring the Republicans back into play in the west with its mild libertarian tendencies, the Northeast where it won't win m/any states, but will take a significant bite of the democratic stranglehold on local, state, and even some national seats. Moderate democrats will then flock to the GOP, seeing it as an alternative to the statist Democrats. The Democrats, while losing moderate voters, will benefit from demographic changes and remain strongnot enough to stay on the left, and may actually head farther to the left, actually becoming of a socialist party. Once that happens, balance will be restored, and the parties will once again be at equilibrium.

The outcome of the American politics is not important, because by 2040, China will have started their military invasion. And since there are chinese in every country allready, the civil war will weaken the western countries, their economy will be ruled by the Chinese, and the whole Eurasian continent will be conquored in about 6 moths or so. North-America will be so darn weak by the time, that as soon as the E-U surrenders, they will too.
We will all be forced to speak chinese and work as their cheap labor in some crappy industry.
That or the western countries start a nuclear holocaust ...

I predict that in 2010, Republicans will make a comeback in the House (probably not the Senate) due to all the Democratic scandals that are breaking out. If they fail to do so, this defeat could drive them to irrelevancy (after all, they were defeated in '06 and '08; a third loss in a row is the kind of thing that leads to the destruction of party systems). It is unlikely that a third defeat in a row would annihilate the Republican Party but it would certainly prompt a realignment. In all truth, their best choice is a party realignment toward the Libertarian direction.
However, unless Obama does something that would endanger his PR (he has already demonstrated he can do politically stupid things without any loss of popularity; e.g., the bailout, being quiet during the pirate scandal), he is likeliest going to win reelection easily in 2012 regardless of how bad the situation is (remember that Bush was re-elected). People dismiss right-wing criticism of him, so even if the economy collapses further than it has already, it will be blamed on Bush or on Pelosi or on anybody but Obama.
Remember that you are the only one who can be 100% sure that you exist.
2010-Pelosi loses Speaker of House position, GOP doesn't get much seats, or even loses some, DOW ends in 11000-16000 in December. GOP still pissed off at Obama
2011-War in Iraq has ended, seems safe, the United States finds Bin Laden, and kills him.
2012-GOP still pissed off nominates Palin, however, in the election, Obama defeats her badly(around a landslide, or even 50-0 states/overkill)
2013-Obama's popularity declines.
2014-GOP still pissed. Economy at its highest maybe?
2015-Too tired to talk about it, maybe Korea finally being united, after the U.S., China, SK, and Japan, and maybe Russia gets tired of North Korea fucking around and invades it, war ended in around 5 months with US/China/SK/Japan/Russia winning.
2016-GOP still loses after getting angry, some Asian American nominee from the Democrats win. GOP resumes attacks at the 1st Asian American, loses more seats.
Then again, I am maybe too harsh on the Republican Party.
I think in 2010 the GOP will gain some house seats but still not a majority. Just the balance of power shifting back to normal after an abrupt change.
Obama will get a second term against some ineffectual GOP candidate. Less because Obama is good but more because the GOP will fall apart.
The GOP will lose even more moderates and be only powerful in Bible Belt states and some areas in the Rockies.
The economy will improve, not this year but in the next two years. (not necessarily because of Obama
Gitmo won't be shut down.
Torture scandals will eventually ensue against the Obama administration.
Biden or Pelosi will run for president and lose against a Republican. The power will shift and we will be back where we started.
Siggy

2010:
More soldiers will be pulled out of Iraq and placed either into Afghanistan or Bolivia (or some other South American country)
Wall Street and the Real Estate companies continue to get handouts from the Obama administration
There will continue to be conflict about Gitmo (GOP wants it to remain open or send prisoners to prisons just as bad / Democrats scared of 'terrorists' entering US or will continue to remain at a standoff about torture policies)
2012:
Republicans will attempt to bash the Obama administration through CNN and rother rightist media, but will end up looking like crying babies
Obama will get re-elected
The world ends
lol
Okay, but if it doesn't:
The US continues to establish a larger presence in South America to 'ensure economic stability'
China and Russia keep making money and developing an independent economy, eventually either allying against the US or fighting each other
2014: The GOP will gain seats in the house and senate due to alleged scandals perpetrated by the left.
2016: A Republican wins the presidency, starts a war, increases terror in the US (with the most likely perp being Venezuala)
2020: Republican re-elected to 'finish' war, more constitutional rights lost, more 'homegrown terrorists' are captured
2024: Americans lose gun rights
2030: North Korea FINALLY develops a long range nuclear missle and destroys the earth.

I agree with you, UNLESS the dollar collapses, which at this rate it is highly likely that it will.
My predictions:
1) The war in iraq will continue just like it would have under McMcain, except iraq will lose it's focus.
2) America will increase it's troop numbers in Afghanistan between now and 2012 as well as in Pakistan.
3) Obama will raise taxes on tax brackets lower than the top 2% / 5% / 10% like he says he is, but it will not be able to keep pace with our governments fiscal crises.
4) The Republicans will pick a candidate that is only superficially different from Obama, the democrats will wave the bloody shirt of George W. Bush and, as you said, narrowly win an election.
5) Torture will continue
6) Universal healthcare will be unattainable. (Sorry progressives, you lose. :D )
7) Under Obama and the 2010 republican congress (As i too predict will happen) Obama will continue to nationalize The Auto industry, housing, Finance, and try to move to medicine. Since Americans are generally opposed to the idea of 'socializing' things because of the bad connotation of socialism, Government ownership will take the form of the more fascistic style of government's micromanaging 'private enterprise'
Oh... and for all you progressives out there. I predict wiretapping will continue.
