Hey I dont understand this in America. Why do they let 16 year olds drive in the US and let them drink when they are 21? Sounds like a really wack law. Also you are allowed to go to the army when you 18. So technically you can fight with guns when you 18 and be exposed to violence but you cant drink.

I doubt anybody in America had ever paid attention to that drinking law.

Lies make baby Jesus cry, bitch.

Probably so that it's harder for them to drink drive and cause serious road traffic accidents.

I'm pretty sure most 16 year-olds already drink. It's getting caught drinking which will get you in trouble but that's hardly ever a problem unless you party a lot.

Kids as young as 4 get exposed to violence from movies and television shows.

America does not have a militia that recruits kids as young as 10 to fight their battles.

Also, I don't know if it's the same in the US, but I know that here, you're allowed to DRINK alcohol from the age of 5, as long as it's done in private, and witnessed by parents/guardian/whatever.
So you CAN drink.
Just not get wasted in public or buy it.

It does seem kinda fucked up to me. I mean if you're reckless in a car you can kill someone, if you're just drinking you're only doing damage to yourself.

A) I'm English, not American. I clearly stated it in the above post.
B) We learned that in school while looking at certain laws and our opinions on them. I really don't feel the need to call the police station, because A textbook which has been mass sold throughout the UK is a more reliable source of knowledge than some internet idiot telling me that any response will be flaming.

It's only 1 out of 3 main causes for vehicle accidents.

Sixteen is the average age for teens in the US to get their license. When you are driving, you aren't doing damage to yourself like you would if you were a heavy drinker.

I've seen plenty, I accept some drunks can become a problem but there's a difference between drinking and binging. Binge drinking is a problem whatever age.

How is that a fallacy? In my state at least, drinking before the age of 21 is legal if your guardian is present.

This is only a half-truth though. No law condemns underage drinking, however the purchase and/or possession of alcohol is illegal for minors.

Also I believe if you are in the military, the drinking age for you is 18 while on federal property
