It's a trendy cult that's particularly huge in Hollywood. Besides Tom Cruise and John Travolta, Will Smith is another of their big-name followers. You'd think that someone like Will Smith would be smart enough not to join a cult created by a professional, Sci-Fi, Writer.

Even with a basic understanding of Scientology, you can see what a rip-off it is. Apparently, the only way to increase in levels is to spend more and more and more $$$, until you get to the top level of enlightenment.

Call me crazy, but I seriously doubt that real enlightenment can be reached with a briefcase full of $$$.

It's not scientologists people hate, it's the corrupt foundations and people that run it that are contemptible.

The founder, L. Ron Hubbard, was not a good man by any means. There is evidence that he established the religion for the sole purpose of gaining money. Scientology is unlike other religions in that you are required to pay fees in order to join/move up in the church. You shouldn't have to pay mandatory fees to believe in something and access the ideas and beliefs of a religion. Religion is not for profit, it is for spiritual guidance, and the Church of Scientology is guilty of turning faith into profit at the expense of people.

The Church of Scientology is also responsible for the largest breach of U.S. government security in history. The Church infiltrated government facilities and stole classified documents and information of people who were opponents of the church. The Church is known for using intimidation tactics to suppress people who speak out against the Church.

Those are only a few reasons why people hate the CoS, and there are definitely more.
