I'd say men. I've heard of women getting into really stupid accidents more than I've heard of it happening with guys. Stuff like running into the garage or a lamp post in a parking lot.

I saw a few stats the other day, and while that was the overall conclusion it wasn't that clear cut. Those stats are usually based on accidents that cause injury/death/damage, and in that case women are safer as men are more likely to have bad accidents as they more commonly take risks and drive aggressively.

But it was found women are much more prone to stupid errors on the roads that don't lead to accidents (stalling was the example they used, but plenty of other things like being in the wrong lane, being crap at reversing etc fall into this category).

So while the stats suggest men are worse drivers it is actually because they are more capable, but take more risks and push the limits too far that you get those stats.

And I'd much rather go out in a burning fireball taking half a street with me than accidentally reversing into a river...

My opinion is that that women are much worse than men. I have in view of in car driving. As they always distract on extraneous things, as that: the child, cosmetics, phone. And there are a lot of such things. It's only my opinion.

Sadly it's us woman. Seriously, everytime someone almost kills me or does something retarded on the road and i get to see who it is, it's a woman. But I'M an exception, promise!

There is an obvious answer to this question. How many women Formula 1 drivers are there? None. How many women drivers in A 1 GP? None. How many women drivers are there in any of the upper echelon car series? The only one I can think of is Danica Patrick. The rest are men. I rest my case.

On the whole, I'd say men. Men think in a different way and can asses any situation more appropriately.

Well, we can't say there are more male drivers anymore. We just don't hear about women's accidents. It's because of their damn I's!

Although women are aces at multitasking, that doesn't make them better drivers than men. Trust me, I have experience.

I am a somewhat reckless driver, and while I was driving, there was a woman driving slowly. And when I say slow, I mean slow as fuck. I got pissed, made a risky maneuver and overtook the bitch.

Well, IMO it's because women are too hesitant about their actions and tend to not think fast enough when the red light is about to come and whether to stop or not

im gonna say neutral. only the women u see on t.v are stupid. iv'e seen a lot of male drivers going through red lights. my point is that its not a sport that requires heaps of muscles or anything (which most women wouldn't be great at, unlike boys because its in their genetic make-up) this just requires brains and attentiveness. so im going neutral.

True dude. When my Dad drives he drives at 50 mph/80 km/h when he feels like it, even when we're not on a motorway.
When Mom does she goes at exactly the speed limit each time even when it's not worth it. Quite often I complain and ask her to go faster as I'm in a REAL hurry and sometimes I feel like taking the drivers seat so that I'd make it wherever i need to on time.

in Thailand women are shit drivers.

There was a documentary series a while ago called "The sex wars" where guys and girls were tested to see what gender was better at what, they did a driving test where they had to reverse a trailer and parallel park and shit, and the men all did it but most of the women couldn't.

So it has been tested, Men are better, I think it was something to do with Men having better spacial awareness and stuff as they are naturally more physical and would require those skills.

I dont think gender has anything to do with wether youre a good driver or not.

Both are better drivers in their own way, since it really depends what definition of good driver you use. If you go by insurance companies' definition of a better driver, then women are better. They tend to experience road rage less, drive within the bounds of the law more, and mistakes they make tend to be of a less severe nature.

Plus my dad sucks at driving, alot more than my mum. It could just be because he's 60 though.

Why are we even discussing this while the answer is clear and obvious? Of course men drive better than women.

When a man drives, his eyes are on the road, his hands on the wheel, his thoughts focussed on driving. Sure, women can multitask, but their quantity causes the quality of their tasks to drop. Therefor, a woman driving will drive just as good as a woman driving while talking on the telephone, whereas a man driving will drive better than a man driving while calling.

As such, men are by default better drivers. The best drivers of the world are all men. The car and all its components were invented and as of today still produced by men. Men are naturally more interested in the technical side of cars.

In short: Men drive better than women. To add my own experience in the mix: at least 4 out of 5 crappy drivers here in the Netherlands is a woman. Trying to disprove this argument means you are trying to disprove my ability to see, which is rather retarted.
