Alright so they both use a tournament like concept, but the stories are different in each. There is nothing wrong with using the same concept as long as you tell a different story with different characters. In a sense it's still new.

It's basically like saying Harry Potter is nothing new because it's about wizardry when you still have Lord of the Rings over here.

The person who submitted probably wasn't the real author. That would be why it was deleted. Other than that I have no clue.
