Has there ever been in the history of video games a gay (or lesbian) main character?

Although with many characters sexual orientation is never addressed as it is not an issue in the game. So there are possibly many gay main characters but it was just never a prominent feature in the story of the game.

Now back to the predictable onslaught of people judging character's actions as signs of being gay rather than actual orientation.

Actually there is one character I know of, from a JRPG (go figure,) but I cannot remember his name, or the game. I just remember reading about it on Kotaku. He isn't a main character though, he was like the side kick.

But can you actually think of any gay characters in games, period? Because besides the one I barely remember, I don't know of any more. I mean, there have been really, really flamboyant characters I can recall, but never have they actually disclosed their sexual preferences.
