By making a thread he's opening himself up to all sorts of reply's. He is obviously not going to say something like "ok anyone who has a problem with what I just posted just let me know k?".

I'm just GIVING my opinion, I don't care if anyone asked for it or not. This seems pretty close to a +1 post count thread if you ask me, because like I said before it's pointless and not a interesting topic, really.

If I know where I messed up, I'll delete back to that part, else I'll retype the whole thing.

I usually just retype it. In rare cases, I fix the incorrect parts precisely and continue on.

Don't remind me of rules, I don't need a lecture and I don't care how much older you are than me you don't need to act like my school teacher. But since you are referring to the rules you probably remember the one about back-seat modding.

Your getting all pissed because I said your thread was pointless.

I always delete it all and retype it. It's easier to do that than try to figure out what I typed wrong.

I was thinking about this:

What if we don't type letters but a whole word / number when we're typing? Maybe our brain is thinking in a whole word or number, not just on individual letters, numbers and that's why when we mistype them, we have to start over... After all, our passwords ARE NOT random words or random numbers...THEY MEAN something for us! Thus, when we screw up typing a single letter, we know that the whole word / number is screwed up, so we typed it all again...

I thought about this after read this 2 posts:

At 5/17/09 11:00 PM, jds74 wrote: mine has 2 parts. so i usually backspace only the part I've messed up and re-type

and this one:

At 5/17/09 11:15 PM, diuqscirtic wrote: I can't type parts of my passwords, they're typed as a pattern my brain knows, not as keys. I delete it all.

Now, for the first post: It means that maybe his password is something like mine: 2 words or one word and a number...IE apple1337 so, if he knows that the part that he mistyped was the numbers part, he could just leave 5 spaces of the password written (apple = ***** five spaces) and delete the others and retype them...same if it was a 2 words password...IE mathsucks

Now, about the second post: As I pointed out before, all passwords are made of things that have a meaning for us! Thus, we don't see it as simple letters but as whole word...That' swhy our brains think about them as a "pattern" as this user said...However, since we can't see it (*****) we have to delete it all since we don't know where the pattern failed, even if we know we fail, we don't know exactly where...Same with numbers...they're not random numbers but a sequence of something we know well (birthdays, telephone numbers, special days, IDs numbers, etc)

What do you think about this theory? :)

If I think I've mistyped my password, I delete the whole thing rather than start counting the asterisks to find where the mistake might be. It's just faster to retype it.

I just delete the whole thing. I rarely mess up because I use the almost the same one for every site I'm signed up for.

My password is 123456789, and I type it on my numpad. So I usually don't mistype it.

Even a password like that can be mistyped if you do it fast...And you might delete it all and you'd start over again....

I never seem to mistype my password but when I do I know my mistake and delete a few letters.
