Why do we brag about our stats?

Every once in a while I'll boast about my reviews or something, but why do I do this? My stats will not get me anywhere in life. It simply shows that I care more about spending countless hours upon a site that truly has no purpose in my education, occupaion, or future. Sure, you get a good feeling seeing that you are a higher level than another user, but it ultimately has no reason meaning that you are a better person. Why do we brag about our stats?

In all the time I've been on NG, I am constantly hearing rules about not bragging your stats. But very, VERY rarely have I ever seen anyone actually doing it.

People brag about their stats, either because they are insecure about their superiority in real life, so they make up for it be acting better then everyone else due to a stat, or they want attention though them having high stats.

I'm one of the biggest stat whores on this site I think, but I don't tend to brag about it, not at all really. I just enjoy collecting stats and I am fully aware that once I leave Newgrounds all of this won't matter but I enjoy doing it. It's just like playing a video game, you get nothing out of it but enjoyable, yet we still do it.

Bragging is fucking retarted though.

Really? If anything I would think that stats would be inversely proportional to grandiosity, for the reasons you just stated (i.e. fucking loser with too much time).
