I'll just cut the intro bullshit and get to the songs.

Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire
Santana - No One to Depend On
Bob Dylan - All Along the Watchtower
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Runnin' Down a Dream
Vampire Weekend - A-Punk
The White Stripes - Blue Orchid
The Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire
Stevie Wonder - Superstition
An unknown Iron Maiden Track

There's also a mode that allows four players to play anything they want, even four lead guitarists (though the presentation looks awkward in the below picture)

My thoughts: I'm not hyping it. I've been burned far too much in the past and I know overhyping will just disappoint me again. Also why Dylan's version of Watchtower? They have the rights to Hendrix so why not use them?

Cash and Maiden are the only ones there that interest me at the moment.

It's a rhythm game, what's there to hype? Push the buttons to these songs - how can that be overhyped?

Also why Dylan's version of Watchtower? They have the rights to Hendrix so why not use them?

So they can say they have more artists in their set list.

Oh, I forgot to mention a little tidbit from the Press Release that will piss off quite a few people.

I guess releasing 40 games a year makes you lose perspective on the fanbase.

Or maybe they're just trying to reel in a different audience, as they've pretty much lost this one to Rock Band.

Makes sense. Most of World Tour's setlist was bullcrap made in this decade despite GH Sales exceeding Rock Band's (also helps that Activision releases 10 titles a year).
It's been established that Activision doesn't care what they release as long as people buy it and they can release a ton of sequels.

The whole kit's still far too expensive, so I won't be buying any of the numerous band games now or before they make them much cheaper.

So why not call this game "Guitar Hero: Angst" or Guitar Hero: Emo Kids on the Block?"

Most of the modern rock I hear is either too angsty, emo, or washed out 80s groups trying to make a quick buck.

Seems pretty meh to me, plus they'll probably try to be all hardcore, raw, and real to bring back older fans and shit.

I never liked Sex On Fire, the only one I'm interested in is "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash.

Also, I don't like Iron Maiden.

Oh neat

The rest I'm not too fussed about.

But srsly yeah, Dylan's All Along The Watchtower? I guess the masters of Hendrix's version must have all been burnt or something.

Probably, but even that considered, the fact remains that Jimi Hendrix is much better suited to Guitar Hero than Bob Dylan for obvious reasons.

Eh, fair point.
If they really wanted to use Dylan, they probably should have used a different song.

They really need to get a lot of songs in there that would challenge guitarists. Something like Gargoyles by Rhapsody.

I dunno, the only one of those songs I like is Runnin' down a dream, and I wouldn't really call it my FAVORITE Tom Petty song.

Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire

Excellent song, one of my favorite by Cash.

Santana - No One to Depend On

Not really a big fan of his, excellent musician though.

Bob Dylan - All Along the Watchtower

Odd they chose Dylan's version over Jimi's. Still a good one.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Runnin' Down a Dream

I was just thinking today that this song would be perfect for Guitar Hero. I love Tom Petty.

Vampire Weekend - A-Punk

I would of preferred M79 or Ottoman over that song, but whatever.

The White Stripes - Blue Orchid

Excellent song, has the catchiest rifts.

The Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil

Decent song, would have liked other songs by them instead of the chosen one.

Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire

My second favorite song by them, good addition to the game.

Stevie Wonder - Superstition

Good to see them throwing some R&B in there, very good song.

An unknown Iron Maiden Track

Never really got into the Iron Maiden phase, they have some good songs though.

Average line-up, I'm not overly exited.

The thing with GH for me is, it's no longer a challenge/fun. I've been playing it since the first one and I've maxed out my skills. Beating every song on expert ( including TTFAF ).

So I'll pick up this game for the fact I think I have to due to my history with it, and my friends all still love the game. Though I don't know how much exactly I'll be playing it.

Three.

Guitar Hero just isn't the same anymore. GH3 was good. And then it all went downhill from there.

I've been thinking about this, unless you're online you're not going to get three drummers or anything, this'll just be useful for when people both want lead guitar or something I guess.
