Yee gads, well, don't you guys just suck.

I should seriously just lock this, because having a high post count is just becoming too big of an obsession.

Damn, you guys got guys, Dobio has been pretty close to just banning people for posting things like this in the topic for a good deal of time now.
I would say to lay off the posting even if it is just for the sake of not getting banned! There are many other places to up your post count, this however is not one of them!

As for the list not getting updated, no big deal, it seems to damn soon for an update anyhow, you said it takes seven hours to make such a list, so it really is up to you and no one else if you do it.

What are you talking about? What did we do wrong now? We just mentioned the 3,000 reply to the topic. What's so wrong about that?

I'm saying the point of this thread is being abused, and I'm really tempted to just kill the whole thing.

Basically, I'm saying that it's becoming an OCP type thread, and quite frankly, that disgusts me, and the reason for it, is people like YOU who reply to every single fucking post that is made.

My point:

SHUT THE FUCK UP!

you should have done what format did, get a site and post the updates there, so that you didn't need a thread. maybe have a thread that you would unlock every update and say "new update" keep it open for a day, then lock it.

that was just painbringer, everybody gave up after he just layed low and got every thousandth post or hundredth page or something. (why do i bother trying to defend a dead topic?)

SHUT THE FUCK UP!

lock the topic untill you update next, that way you dont have to worry about us posting.

Too fast. Talk about an insane topic. Last time I read it was around page 80, and now it's at 101?! Almost as fast as level up!, with far less good reason to be expanding so much. Dobio's right. This IS the new OCP.

lock the topic untill you update next, that way you dont have to worry about us posting.

One problem:

"Sorry, you can't do anything with "Top 100 Posters List" - the first post to it is old and only super-admins can perform admin tasks on this thread. "

Mods can't lock topics older than 7 days old. Dobio would have to get an admin to lock and unlock the topic for each update, and I doubt any of the admins wants to do that, and I doubt Dobio would want to do that.

No, what Dobio COULD do, is delete all posts that bump this until he feels like updating it. That would be an effective detterent because most people who post here don't want their posts deleted, so... they'd stay away except to comment on a list update, methinks, if they knew Dobio would strictly enforce that "deleting all posts during a period Dobio doesn't want the topic to be active" policy.

I'm just not sure how easy it would be to unlock it...if it works the same...or what.

I could very easily lock this thread. How do you think Tanner locked the Muffin thread?

I've known about Tanner's over-a-week-old lockings well before the Muffin thread was locked. So... of course you COULD, but you're not supposed to. Don't you think the admins would unchain our lock timelimit if they wanted us to be able to lock old topics?

I don't tend to mention Tanner's frequent use of the workaround because it would inspire panic in many of the BBS's denizens. Besides, if you keep talking about that, then none of us can ever use "well, it's already over 7 days old" as an excuse for why we didn't lock something, fool.

BTW, I should add this:

why do you think Wade warned all the mods not to ban people over the 7 day max? Because it was being done too often and too extremely.

The more mods who flaunt the lock time limit, the more likely Wade is going to make that impossible, or warn us not to do it.

So if I were you, I wouldn't follow Tanner's example with regard to that one aspect of modding.

...

I just deleted the sigpic of some 14 post NG Mafia member who was using your -shock- mod of the people sig with his name instead of -shock-, in other news.

yeah, i forgot that you had to work around the time thing.

and its been known by a lot of users that tanner can go around it, he's locked some rather high profile threads before. and steve i think learned how to, when he was fighting to keep the "user image gallery" open.

maybe if he asked wade to allow him to lock the thread through that method, and promise not to exploit his ability to do so, so that wade knows that he's doing it, and can also yell at him if he does it to any other older topic

Like gfox said though, Tanner's workaround is something that shouldn't be done. If Wade wanted us to lock older topics, we would have the power to. So if you want something locked, its as easy as e-mailing Wade and telling him to. I had him lock The Regular's Lounge in the flash forum just by asking. Its not like asking Wade to lock this would be a huge burden on him. It would just be one 10-second ordeal.

Um, perhaps i sound like a new girl that doesn't know much..but actually i guess that's exactly it... Could you tell me why it was that the muffin people were locked? I am merely curious. I am not a member of theirs and I've heard so many rumors that I don't know what is true.
And just wondering..but..the 7 day old rule...is that more of "honor code" or is it that you are suppose to not do it?

Well, mexxa (samurai muffin) requested that tanner banned pen0r muffin. Fair enough, pen0r muffin was spamming, but tanner looked through the last few pages, and locked the thread, because we were all chat no muffins. I totally agree with him, it was right, I tried to stop the bloody spammers, but I failed. But on the brighter side, it's loosened me up. I now spend more times in other clubs, and bring my experience with me... :)

I think ive been posting too much over the last few days, maybe the forums have been a bit better or im just taking the piss.
