1. I just browsed through the Lego case thread, and I now hate MercatorMap

2. It's looking great so far, the only thing I can say anything against is the orange you used to paint the inside. I think it should be more yellow.

The paint wasn't exactly what I hoped it was, but I still had a great turnout.

I still have a few things I need to order online, one of which is a few standoff screws, without which I can't put my computer in this case. So even if I finish, my computer won't be up for another week.

Then there's the issue of my parts actually working. I received a replacement motherboard recently, and I haven't even tested it. There have been a lot of stories of people getting faulty replacement boards from this company, and I really don't want that to happen to me.

In other words, I'm worried.

Gee, did you use any primer when you painted it black?
I think it's worth sanding and repainting, that just looks sloppy.

That's just the way the light is reflecting or other picture bullshit.

Anyways, the case is functionally complete, and my gaming rig runs once more, but there's much too many pictures I've taken to post in this thread without gettin' spammy. I've been uploading everything to a photobucket album, and I'll bump the thread whenever I add new pictures.

I really am not one to talk because I know nothing about building computers, but it would look better if you put an orange piece of metal behind it, instead of the inside. Besides why would you want the case to have a gaping hole in it? I dunno though, you probably have your reasons.

Hey guys, if you like the work I'm doing with my case, go ahead and shoot Tom a PM asking him to mention it in a news post.

I really have put a lot of effort (and frustration) into this case, so the more publicity it gets, the more reason I have to work on it, and in turn the better the final result.

Small update. I've started the detailing work for the case, and this is what I got for the DVD drive. I used painters tape and cut out a stencil with an exacto knife. Unfortunately, the paint got under the stencil, and it looked shit. But, with some finishing work, I think it deserves an E for effort.Photobucket album for additional pics.

Also, Tom agreed to give me a mention in his next news post. I'm not saying I'm entitled, but I put a lot of sweat, blood, and semen into a project based around a site and community that means a lot to me. Thanks to anyone who's already been watching this case take shape; it'll be awesome to get the extra publicity.

Wow, I havn't seen this thread in a while. I was getting worried that something went wrong. It looks amazing so far, and the only thing I suggest now is that you buy some stickers from the store to slap on it. Maybe even rivet an angryfaic keychain onto it somewhere.

Love the CD tray in particular. Got some nice ideas going, can't wait to see the finished project.

Maybe paint AngryFaic on the circle thing on the front of the case. That would look awesome.

There's only a few more things to do before I'm willing to call this project complete, and I'll probably get around to them within the next week. Here's the list:

-Get the NG tank on the window
-Put an orange LED fan in the front
-Stencil "Everything by Everyone" on the right side
-Put plexiglass over the skyline

I would love some suggestions on how I could get the tank on the window, since I'm not sure how I'm doing it. I was thinking about doing a stencil with spray paint, but I'm not sure if rust-oleum adheres to acrylic too well. Suggestions?

Amazing progress so far! I only noticed this topic this morning and read through the entire thread. Looks great so far and hopefully it will work without any trouble once it's done.

The only thing that I would have done differently was using a flat based paint instead of a gloss finish. As far as you wanting to paint over acrylic, go to a hobby shop and most of them will have specific types of paints which are best for different applications. I'm sure they'll have paint that is specially suited to be used on acrylic.

The keychain came today, and I'm now considering getting some more stickers. In addition, I was thinking about another project I might start tomorrow. For now let's just leave it at LEGO ;)
