Hahaha, that's good though. Hopefully you'll get some more.

Geocaching got bumped off today because my caching buddy (and GPS owner) is sick. Oh wellsy.

Is it OK if I ask what kind of GPS everyone is using? I'm looking for a good GPS that I can use to GeoCache, among other tasks. I could read product reviews all day, but I'd rather poll the crew.

Also, I've been to this cache 4 times now. I'm determined to find it, and now it's becoming obsession. The comments suggest that it's an easy find, but no such luck for me.

BTW, the hint "Same as type #1" refers to the first cache in the series, which is here. And no, I can't find that one either.

My first thought was that the cache would be in a storm drain, which it wasn't. There's also a 6 ft ditch behind the storm drain, which also didn't contain my cashe. I even crawled inside the drain pipe, with no luck.

Almighty master GeoCacher Zerok, do you have any suggestions for any more places to look?

Woohoo! I got MY first First To Find, and our account's 4th. Here's a copy of my log:

Woo, our fourth FTF! This is actually the first time that I (Mr. TP) have gotten up and rushed out for an FTF. We usually can't because we don't have a vehicle, but this one had too many things going for it so I couldn't really pass it up.

Ms. TP emailed me the new published listing at noon. She actually has the GPS with her in Cayman, but there was enough written and visual info for me to know where this was. I figured most cachers would be at work AND the bus that took me right there was due to come in 7 minutes. So I hopped on and went in, and found it right where I'd knew it'd be.

One piece of advice for the cache owner: You should really change this cache to a Puzzle Cache, since the posted coords are NOT where the cache is. I know it gives a fairly easy and detailed guide in the description, but the fact remains that it's not really a Traditional Cache. Some people just load in coords and don't bother with descriptions; this kind of thing would confuse them. Having it be a Puzzle Cache would absolutely draw attention to the crucial stuff in the description.

Cheers, and thanks for the FTF!

It was for this noobishly placed cache: http://coord.info/GC1RP6F

Among other tasks? Hmmmm well that depends on your budget. We use the very basic Garmin eTrex H, which runs for about $125, but I've heard that's been discontinued. It's fine for geocaching, and hiking. No maps though.

The next step up is the Garmin eTrex Legend, which is ~$30-50 more expensive. It has basic maps. Then you start getting into the fancy ones. I recommend you stick with the Garmin make though. Lauren wants to get an uber fancy Oregon 300, but they cost $550 CAD. Touch screen, electronic compass, paperless caching... it's a beast!

Almighty master GeoCacher Zerok, do you have any suggestions for any more places to look?

Not without being there man. It's newish cache, with only a few finds. A couple of the comments suggest that it's a fairly decent hide. Maybe take a few pictures of the area and post them here? But without a GPS you might want to shelve this one for the time being.

==========

In other news, I was browsing the somewhat immediate area when I found an insane cache path south of the city of Moncton, New Brunswick. Look at this mofo! [Pic 1/2]

The top of the picture here is the bottom of the last one. There's like six more caches that continue past the bottom of this one... and suspect that number will grow. The north-south path here is apparently a 58 kilometre trail. Jesus balls.

Way to go!

Na, I just want one that I can use for when I go hiking, hunting, and geocaching. I always have wanted to get one, but I never got around to it. I had been looking at different Garmin models, so that's what I'll probably go after.

Right now, I'm using an Iphone app, but it's missing the last number on it's coordinates. I'll head on over to the pawn shop up the road later today and have a look and see if I can find a decent GPS.

Not without being there man.

Well I figured I could find it, because in the description, it says that the cache is directly across the street from an intersection. Google map pic really didn't show where I believe the cache to be, so I'll have to go back Monday or so to get a good picture. Hopefully, I'll find it then, though.

I'll find those two caches if it kills me.

Look at this mofo!

Jesus Christ, that's crazy. The real challenge would not be finding one.

=======================================

While browsing through my local geocaches, I found this little goldmine, which is about 30 minutes from my house. I think I'll get a team to help me with all these. I'll have fun with these.

That does look fairly zoomed out though. Could be a day trip for sure!

I recently bought the Geocacher app for my iTouch. It's ten bucks and is good for paperless caching. It'll be helpful even if you get a GPS (unless you get a really expensive one that has the paperless caching software in it).

It's not bad. It runs on wifi and you can search for caches fairly easily. The best part for me is being able to store the info for offline use. Of course, with a Touch you can't make use of the navigation thing at all... but I use it for the hints, description and recent logs. It's already saved us from hunting too hard for some caches with lots of recent DNFs.

One thing that was disappointing is that it doesn't cache the map offline, which would be a nice feature. If you're online you get a nice road map with icons for the caches, as well as options to toss them up onto Google Maps.

You can store field notes as you cache and then upload them all onto the site when you get back into a wifi area. Haven't tested this feature yet it seems pretty straightforward. A handy app if you've got like 30 caches to do and a GPS that doesn't store much info beyond the coords.

Oops! I forgot to sleep last night. Which is why I'm posting whole thread before 7am.

It'll make today's full day of geocaching interesting! Here's our game plan, north of HRM. Follow the red line, that's our route. We plan to hit everything along that route before the green arrow at the top. The clusters that are circled in yellow are all "time permitting" zones.

We start around 11am, and go until we get tired of poking around strange little towns with flashlights!

Did you get as far as you wanted to? You had almost 1/2 left of what you set out to do!! Another day I guess.

I went caching today and I found an interesting one that was in a building in a boat then a container! I couldn't find it once because I didn't catch on that it was on the inside! Once I did it was obvious. It was a really great cache. I only have one more in Cayman to do, and it's a difficult multi one. I have to wait for silly Jordy to help me out because my GPS doesn't do very sensitive projections. Boo at him!!

I am going to hide one that's a PVC pipe!

Yeah, I have to do Relay for Life which is like a cancer fund-raising thing at my school tomorrow, and after that, I'm gonna go do some hunting.

5 caches I'd like to check out:

1. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_det ails.aspx?guid=f20913cd-f59a-4a2c-a771-6 bdd8805c4b0
2. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_det ails.aspx?guid=9ac2b88e-8cfa-436b-b1ba-4 795c6ec1d5d
3. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_det ails.aspx?guid=a5738056-7d38-45b8-896c-0 5008e064052
4. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_det ails.aspx?guid=7ea9ab8a-58cd-4c61-a56a-a 9b21087b4a1
5. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_det ails.aspx?guid=fc7a591b-9432-41c7-a0d9-1 c741c8ef6b2

2 will be a bit...unnerving because it's hidden near where a bunch of homeless people live and it seems a bit rude to be on their territory. 4 will be tricky.

Shitty graphic:

Good luck man. Still no GPS right? Study that satellite picture like a mofo, haha.

Also, Groundspeak has a nice short URL thing so you don't have to post those big ugly links:

In other news my first multi was published the other day. Waypoint 2 is a tricky camo hide, and I've aleady got two DNF's on it, MUHAHAHA!

Just came back.

Agh, I feel like such a damn noob. First of all, I ended up only looking for 4 of the caches because it started raining. Second, I found absolutely none of them. I'm probably gonna back for #3, and my only reason for doing that is because just as I was about to leave, somebody came up behind me and I saw him pick up something that looked suspiciously like a geocache from the corner of my eye. Of course, I kept on walking, because I didn't want him to think I was spying. But I'm gonna go back to that one, probably, and search that area again.

To be fair, though, I really didn't look too hard for my last one, since it was starting to rain and I was tired of walking around the whole time, so I just called it a day.

I hate being a noob.

Also, I need a GPS. The cheapest one I can find because I'm not exactly rolling in dough at the moment. Geocaching would be so much easier if I had a GPS. Satellite images just aren't the same, especially, say if the geocache was under a bridge and from the satellite image, it looked like it was in the middle of a road. Like the last geocache I searched for.

Ok, that's it.

Damn man. Time to start saving up!

I'd post a proper reply but we're heading out soon. Where? On a massive overnight camping/caching trip.

Our target is over 100. We've loaded in about 800, but I'm thinking we'll do about 120.

Hahaha, I seem to have "found" a cache without even leaving my computer.

I don't get the point of 'virtual caches', especially obvious ones like this one, which is where I live. It asks for information that you can easily find with a simple Google picture search of the building it's on about in the 'clues' section. And I knew the info it was after anyway (as does anyone who lives here). I'm not gonna even bother logging it, 'cause it's so pointless.

Still haven't found a single thing of material worth yet either, primarily because there's literally nothing around here.

Geocaching? SHWEET!
I meant to check this club out a long time ago but I stopped caching for a while and forgot about it. I've found a few in my town, but for some reason I never logged all of them.

I'm still not properly equipped, but I manage. Google earth is a big help on that.

well anyway, I would love to be a part of this, and I will be checking in soon.
