Anyone can ask for $25,000, but only a handful will pay that much.

And only 26 made?

I'm a little confused about what it is. I know its a NES cartridge, but does it contain one game or a collection or what?

I never owned a NES so I have no idea why the price of that is so high.

It's a limited quantity of a cartridge that contains greatest hits.

It contains 3 games compiled into a mode that takes the scores of all 3 games and compiles them into one super score. The three games were Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, and Tetris.

I fail to see why anyone would want to pay that price for something like that. Sure it might be rare, but I can't see them getting $20,000+ worth of amusement out of the thing.

Nintendo should do this idea again with the Wii. Many people 10 years from now will be sad enough to buy a "gold" colored cartaridge/package/DVD covering thing for 25000 dollars.

Obviously it would be sold for more or be in a collection.

You really don't know about marketing strategy.

It's extremely rare, only shown at certain shows and stuff. It's like the Donkey Kong Country cartridge that was used in professional contests.

Noobz, FUCK OFF!!!.
on a more serious note,"haven't the buyers heard of making your own cards?" in emulators, you don't make the emulator or the game, so it is not the same analogy. You got Mind Fucked.

Making your own deck of piracy is just as bad as making your own emu folder of piracy. Besides, you're not going to find a ROM file of this game because you need the cartridge to make the ROM, and I doubt the people who own the cartridge have done that.

People don't buy this game to play it, you know.

You do know that's one of the rarest games ever made right?
As mentioned only 26 Copies were made, and given away in a Nintendo Power Promotion.
It's so rare that even the AVGN with his huge NES collection doesn't go out of his way to find it and if he does he won't spend the large amount of cash on it.

Guess the five albums and bands and you get a free cookie.

well, the championship cartridges are very rare.

They were only won in contests and I guess it makes sense that they are so valuable, only a few hundred were made, even less of the gold version of the cartridge

Still $25,000 for a video game that plays mutilated versions of already limited NES games is nothing to sneeze at.

Hell, for that kind of money you could even buy a house.

$25'000 is the Buy It Now price

He is accepting offers made by people (hence the 8 offers indicated) but those offers value aren't shown.

According to Game Informer magazine, collectors are actually asking for over $100,000 for said game.

That is a bit much, and he says its the only gold one, the "Holy Grail" of gaming. Who wants to bet the dude peeled off the stickers, spray-painted it gold, and put the stickers back on?

I smell scam.

Yeah, but Ebay would be busting the dude's balls hard if he actually did pull some type of prank. 25,000 dollars isn't chump change.
