During the Vorzian Clu break away from Zhong, Zhong troops met extremely hostile resistance moving into the newly established Vorzian Sluice. Zhong troops were constantly under sniper fire and delayed expansion into the sector by nearly 4 years. Key leadership was constantly sniped and conscript units abandoned due to nearly non-existent lower leadership functionality. In fact the native Clu population was so effective in their guerrilla and terrorism tactics that Zhong quickly abandoned imperial expansion in the area due to high casualty rates of upper-level leadership and no other nations since could really declare the area in and around the Vorzian Sluice part of their own.
Clu Heralds
Heralds are part of the Clu Warrior class of women, created as a support auxiliary for main troop movements across the newly formed Sluice. Their natural instincts and perfect vision allowed many to become the feared snipers of Clu culture.
Equipped with the newly acquired Parent 7.62 Shortmens rifle, Heralds quickly made a mockery of Zhongs' volume of fire tactics. Smart links made it possible to fire the weapon without a scope allowing for quick redeployment and natural vision when aiming the weapon, instead of having to take in account wind and terrain, The shortmen allowed a Laser/Gamma system to take in all the accountabilities to the target and allow the user to fire off shots without pre-programming as was done with prior sniper support gear.
