1) What do you think about evolution: fact or fiction?

2) Do you believe that we evolved from apes?

3a) Do you take the Bible word for word and say that God made Adam and Eve?

3b) If so, do you believe that Lillith really was the first woman, and not Eve?

My answers...
1) fact
2) yes
3) no, I think that the story was a simple parable.

Well, the first two kind of go together, like you can't say you don't believe in evolution, and yes believe we evolved from apes.

1. yes
1. no
3. no

Lillith?

Allow me to better explain. Appearently, in the story of Adam and Eve there was another character named Lillith who was editted out. The story goes "God made Adam and Lillith, Adam makes Lillith serve him, Lillith says no, and speaks God's secret name thus dissapearing. Then God made Eve from Adams rib." Goes to show that even the Bible is subject to censorship. Now you know where they got the name "Lillith Fair".

I think that the idea of evolution is possible however the true darwinism isn't. There are too many loop holes in any religion or any sceince theory to really truely describe the origin of man. I guess I'm taking the easy way out by saying " so far we're all wrong " and not making a theory on how man was created, but in reality non of us know so theres no reason to make one up just to be padantic.

2) Do you believe that we evolved from apes?

No, It's my understanding that when a creature evolves then the obselete creature dies off. So although we we're evolved from some simian like creature, not specifically apes.

3a) Do you take the Bible word for word and say that God made Adam and Eve?

No, I belive that ANYone who belives the bible word for word has a compelete and utter disregard for reality and belive it becuase other people do.

3b) If so, do you believe that Lillith really was the first woman, and not Eve?

I think the intetion of the bible was just like that of greek mythology. It's not meant to be taken literally but symbolic.

That is incorrect. Ok let me exlain it to you. There are several species of apes, we also didn't evolve from chimpanzees directly, we share a common ancestor 6 million years ago and chimps went their way and humans went there own. This creature no longer exists as a species for it has evolved in human and chimpanzees. Also the creature that another creature evoled from doesn't nessary become extinct if It is doing good in it's enviorment and had an evolved branch to suit a different enviorment. Also, Chipanzees shares 98.5% of their DNA making them not only the closest relative to man, but we are their closest relative. They are closer to humans then they are to gorillas! We evolved from apes and we are not that special, we share all our basic behaviors with chimps. If an one wants to contordict what I say, reply

Where the hell did you get that Idea? If that were the case there'd be no primates except for people, No Whales just dolphins, for that matter no pigs or Hippopotimuses because they evolved into whales(Yes they went back to the sea).

Evolution is not always about replacing & it takes different paths, An animal in one location may not need to change to survive, The same species in another area may need to evolve to live, EG: Cats, Dogs, bears, otters & Seals all evolved from one creature which was an early kind of Racoon, Birds evolved from lizards yet lizards still exist, Believe it or not Paciderms(Elephants) evolved from Lagomorphs(Rabbits & Pikas & that) which intern evolved from Rodents(Rats, mice, Hamsters).

The evidence for both creationism and evolutionary theory is incomplete and inconclusive. Furthermore, we weren't there, so we can't say for sure on those grounds either.

It's theoretically possible that everything was random. It's also possible that "God" created everything, including the fossil record, just to fuck with us so to speak.

As I said, given that we weren't there, we can't talk about the past. All the genetic similarity doesn't change this or prove or disprove one theory or the other. Likewise, we can't talk about the future. I'd even go on to say we can't talk about the present per se, but that might be too much for now.

Aside from all that, frankly, I don't care about metaphysical questions. They're largely irrelevant to me. Whether we're descended from ape-like creatures or were created, that's not all of a sudden going to make much of a difference in my life as I have to deal with distinctly human problems in the present.

True the evidence for Evolution is incomplete but there is no evidence to support creationism apart from the Big Bang but the Big Bang just happens to work with both theories so in effect only Evolution has any evidence at all regardless of how complete it is.

Pantomime: I support neither theory, and even if I did, knowing how the world (and life) came into being thousands or millions of years ago really wouldn't make much difference to my life.
