Protip: Anything from MTV Music Generator to Magix can produce good, and legal music; however, if while using the software if you are simply ordering pre-made loops into a song-type thing, then you are not producing legal, or good music.
I started with MTV Music Generator which I wouldn't suggest to my worst enemy :)
Regardless of this fact: they serve a purpose as a good introduction to music production, and teach you many of the basics of the user-interface without creating any bad habits, or even requiring any knowledge of composition! If you are interested in learning how to produce, I would certainly suggest Magix as a self-introduction to production, as this is how MTV Music Generator served me. Once you're really comfortable with the advanced features of Magix, jumping into something like FL won't be much more than a short step.
A couple of possible legitimate uses of Magix/MTV Music Generator/etc. would be to:
A.) Create your own patterns using the samples it comes with, I can't imagine that they wouldn't allow or expect this-- but you still might want to check the manual, because even MTV Music Generator required that you send Codemasters a copy of the song and ask for permission. (after this of course, you might even be able to add effects like Flanger, Reverb, Delay-- the issue with people using Magix is that they often don't really know how to use it, and it doesn't require you to really know how to use it to make music sounding stuff.)
B.) Import your own samples , order them into patterns, and then make a song. Magix would never have any way of finding out if you used your own samples or not, and you're not even putting any of their intellectual property, you're just putting samples in an order...
If you don't know music, but you still would like to produce, it's never too late to be in band for a year or take music lessons (playing is the only way to learn music!) BUT, if you really really want to learn how to produce, but don't have time right now to learn music, Magix is a big step in the right direction. Just get in sync with the advanced features of Magix and you'll be well on your way some producing some epic trax like mine.
