Some people here may be interested in a class package I will be releasing soon which will give game developers better control over the ads which appear in their games.

Basically it will provide a means of remote switching between embedded ad-providers code such as Mochiads, GameJacket, Newgrounds etc... It even allows for feeding custom ads into games in SWF or image format, setting the ad duration or disabling ads on a per-domain basis. This puts some control back into the hands of the developer by being able to sell their own in-game ads space privately.

You can read more about it on my blog here, I'd really like to here peoples thoughts on it specifically if they think it would be useful to them.

interesting.

though i don't really understand how the money will be split.

you get a %, we get a %, and newgrounds/mochi/kong/etc. gets a %?

how does it work exactly in terms of the percentage

It's totally free. It's just code you can put in your game which will allow a developer to switch between various compiled-time embedded ad systems such as MochiAds or GameJacket, OR alternatively load in your own custom ads (SWF or Image).

I've setup a google code project for it here : http://code.google.com/p/flash-ad-manage r/

At the time of writing I haven't uploaded the code yet but it will be coming in the next week.

by that you mean you won't get any of the %, right?

honorable :D

but what is the advantage of switching between ads, rather than sticking with only newgrounds, or only mochi, etc.

@mayoarm11 The advantage is that you aren't locked into one provider. I think everyone can agree MochiAds has pretty strong grasp over the Flash advertising space, but what if they all-of-a-sudden closed down. There will be tens of thousands of games across the internet not generating any income because they're not serving ads. Now obviously Mochi closing down is not very likely. But having a range of pre-embedded options a developer can switch between is all about choice.

More importantly being able to serve / sell your own ads is another revenue option. Rather than sell a one time embedded sponsorship why not try arrange a 6 month buy-out with an interested buyer? Another example could be you have just released your new game and want people to come to your site to play it. You already have 10 games released online which at the moment are displaying MochiAds. Simply turn off MochiAds across these 10 games and instead feed in your own ad. Yes, I know MochiAds lets you display your own image-based ads but my code allows you to host animated SWFs aswell as static images.
