3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsMy old keyboard is wearing out. I need a new one. The wire is shot. If the wire moves at all then it will lose connection with the computer.
I'm looking for a new one. These are some specs.
1. It has to be 18.5 inches wide. Definately not more, maybe a little less but not much
2. It has to have a volume slider
3. It has to have a wrist pad
4. I don't want one of those wierd ergo ones
5. It has to have all of the standard keys
It seems you should also add: Wireless keyboard
Thus, you won't screw up this one too...

Connections between wires and systems are known to wear out over time. This keyboard that I have now is one of the very first ones to use a USB port (so extremely old)
Wireless ones use batteries (horrible for the environment and inefficient) and they can sometimes lose connection with the computer.
Holy shit, for the lulz I was looking at keyboards on amazon priced high to low and I saw one that costed almost 10 grand

Who the hell would spend that much on a keyboard?

Not at all. My keyboard is wirless and it uses Nimh batteries... The load last around 3 - 4 weeks... And I don't have to drop the batteries, I can always load them and get them ready in less of 30 minutes...
Thus, I'm saving money, saving the environment and I also keep my space free of wires...

That isn't good for the evironment. Disposing of the keyboard when it wears out will be horrible for the environment. Batteries have many toxic chemicals in them.

As a matter of fact, we do....
I don't think anyone around here has a keyboard that meets your requirements; it's simply too specific. Your best bet is to take a look in a electronics store, unless you want a "gamer" keyboard or something similar.
Also, I'm typing this with a Medion stock keyboard. The batteries I use last 3-4 months a time, and I never loose connection. Shit is sturdy as a brick.
Those are some pretty steep demands. You're going to have to fork over at least a hundred for it.
If you want to take a step down, Saitek makes good keyboards.
This bugger has been going on 3 or 4 years now and hasn't failed once.
The best bet is that you get a wireless one. This will eliminate all your problems. All you need to do is buy a 16 pack of Double A Batteries and your set for atleast a year or longer.

Wiereless keyboards are common enough now that they don't lose connection... buy a new one and your'll be safe.
I hate other keyboards, I can only "blind type" on this one, all other keyboards im always a few letters off. As Im hateing, I hate laptop keyboards, the "Fn" key throws all the other keys to the left which is anoying I guess
*No longer PaperBoy, due to a technicality involving a 'missing' energy drink, I am now TiredBoy...
