I'd doubt it becuase:

1) The UK doesn't have any representation in Laos, so it'd be harder for the UK govt to negotiate her release.

I thought the article said UK had an ambassador over there.

It would be creepy though. Two possible scenarios:
1. They'd should the pregnant woman who's about to give birth. So they have to bury a dead woman with a deceased fetus inside of her.

2. They allow her to give birth at a hospital and then gun her down. like in firefly: "Say hello to mommy. Now say goodbye to mommy." *shoots* I mean there are orphans enoufgh and they could harvest organs from it, right?

But yes, it is not unthinkable that someone placed drugs among her stuff. It is really lucrative to let other people smuggle your shit out of a country. If the mules are caught, they get death sentences and the real smugglers still run free.

She's a UK citizen so I think it's fair for her to be trialed and put to justice in the UK, not abroad, I reckon the government will intervien before anything happens to her.. I hope.

Damn, that is fucked up man. Sense when is drug smuggling punishable by death?

Damn I'm high.

My opinions are so useless, I don't even listen to them.

If people commit crimes they should be punished. Firing squad for drug smuggling in my book is fine. The woman in question got pregnant in jail. Clearly an attempt to prolong justice. It matters not who you are if you have done wrong you pay. Simple.

I believe in the right to a fair trial. Even if she's 100% guilty, she should still be appointed a lawyer and she should have a fair trial.

If it turns out she's guilty, she can suffer the consequences. She knew the risks involved before she went ahead with trying to smuggle in all that heroin. If the UK government bail her out and give her a nice comfy luxurious prison cell with DVD players and internet access like they give to all kinds of horrible criminals, it'll just send out the message that anyone might as well try to commit crimes worldwide because if they get caught, at least the UK government will be there to save them from any real punishment.
