ok...
the chance of anything going wrong is so insignificant it can be classifed as 0% chance of disaster.

Actually, i think there is a 0% chance of disaster. It's just that some retards focused in on the words 'mini black hole' and didn't look at any of the science. For instance, these black holes pop up everywhere every few seconds, its just that we need one to observe.

That's what they say.
Remember when they said the world was the center of the universe?
They were WRONG.
Remember when they said the world was flat.
They were WRONG. ALL FUCKING WRONG.
Remember when they said girls had boobs?
THEY WERE FUCKING WRONG GOD FUCKING DAMN IT I FUCKED MY MOM SHE HAS TWO DICKS WHERE HER TITS SHOULD BE. GOD FUCKING DAMN IT.
So they might be wrong about this as well!
Good night! God bless!
All they're doing is smashing atoms together. There's no way they're going to destroy the world. Why do people keep spreading these stupid rumours?
Seriously, any of the nuclear reactors in the world pose more of a threat than this thing. With those they're causing chain reactions which release a lot of energy, whereas with the LHC, they smash single atoms together at high speeds, and have a look at what the atoms (or parts thereof) are made of.

you live in the deep south where they still believe jesus is a living being dont you
and that the world is indeed flat...

But, everything you listed was a religious belief. Not a scientific one.

Actually, they didn't have any facts supporting it was flat, or not flat.
But with LHC they know what they're doing, and the chance something wrong would happen, or there is something they have missed is MUCH, MUCH less.

Oh fuck, its time to start wading through the cease pool of "DOOMSDAYOMG!!!!" threads. May Zeus have mercy on us.
Maybe later.....

pretty sure the mods will have it covered...

Can't fucking wait, I'd rather achieve something in science than not improve, and have everyone sit around continueing this boring stuff.
You are worrying about nothing.the Large Hadron Collider couldn't destroy our world.the impact of the 2 atoms is equal to a couple of moskitos colliding against each other.
anyway,we all knew the world ended in 2000,because clearly everything electronic stopped working.
and besides,if anything bad happens,Chuck Norris will save us. ;)

Heh, I find it funny, but the 2012 one would be funnier!
I agree that something bad will happen, to all who say there will be 0.1% chance of something bad happening, We were created via bacteria hitting earth"0.1%" chance that that would happen.

Oh god, okay, don't panic, just remember;
KILL IT WITH FIRE!
Fuck's sake, the whole LHC will kill us thing was only slightly amusing a year ago. Make deductions and appropriate conclusions.

One of the cooling systems or similar broke shortly after it turned on, I think.

You're an idiot. There is approximatley a 1 in 100,000,000 chance that a black hole will be created, and then a 1 in 25,000,000 that the black hole will be big enough to not simply evapourate as son as it has been created.
Do some research before your start planning your funeral.

Take the Chernobyl disaster, for example. People are just scaremongering and anyone who believes it is just an idiot.
The media is probably waiting until the Swine flu epidemic is over; then they'll start blowing this out of proportions
Don't care

Contentment is the enemy of creativity. Which is actually why music and art are continually getting shitter. In terms of creativity, the human race is past it's peak.
Anyway, back on topic. I seriously can't wait for them to actually fire this up for real... because when the world doesn't end, I'll be walking the streets with a smug smile and an "I told you so" t-shirt on.
I've no idea where the whole LHC-doomsday theory came from because it has no supporting evidence. I'm guessing more media scaremongering...

Yeah, there was a helium leak. That must have been a fun day at work.
After seing all of the scientists run around with high pitched voices, the head of the project must have at least thought that the machine had worked, and opened up a wormhole to a parralel universe full of Joe Pasqualis
Anyway, they are not atoms. They are Protons.
Get your theoretical physics right people.
