Punk rock and emo are both pretty broad terms.
But, I've been into punk rock for about 6 years now.
So obviously, punk.

The measure of the state's success is that the word anarchy frightens people, while the word state does not.

These kids they dont respect punk. they think its just a fad but its not its a lifestyle. sometimes i wonder if these kids know what punk is really all about.. hurmm.. heck i have a friend who says hes a punk but infact hes just a wannabe punk. He listens to more metal than he listens to punk..humph punk my arse.

If being a drunken bum that never bathes is a "lifestyle" count me the fuck out.

I know WAY too many gutterpunks to want to be like them.

Do not PM me asking about the project known as "Iron Fist."
There is no such project.

Er... I'm a punk. I take no offense. What's your problem?
P.S. When I say punk, I don't mean I listen to Atreyu... or whatever they're calling "Punk" now-a-days. I mean that i've been playing actual hardcore punk in bars, small clubs, and house parties as a back up/fill in guitarist here in the Vegas scene now for almost two years.

back up/fill in = I get a call when somebody says they wont be able to make a show.

PUNK.....I know what you're thinking.....I made this account before when I thought I was emo. Then I realized what I giant faggot I was being (I said that for lack of a better word, I am not homophobic). I thought I liked my chemical romance, but then I actually listened to their music and couldn't even fathom how ANYONE could give two shits about them. So now I'm not punk, but of the two, I choose punk. I like the Ramones, LOVE the Sex Pistols. The Dead Kennedys are pretty good too.

And if you're wondering why I didn't just make a new account, that's because I'm already a level 13, I'm almost a rank 3 in blam/protection points, and that would take a fuckload of time to do over again, so....yeah.

OOOOOHHHH!!! Now I get it!! See kids? This is why you should read the entire thread first. My mistake.
I can understand that to a degree. Although Punk was never about the "Lifestyle". It's more or less what every individual makes it to themself. The Sex Pistols screamed for anarchy, Bad Brains want's equality, and the Beasty Boys just want to party... well and recently save the seals. It's all about what it means to you. You said it yourself "it's a lifestyle". Well a lifestyle is more then just music my friend. Just look at how many different genre's of "Punk" there are out there. I think you're just a hardcore punk with something to prove, and no way to do it. Just appreciate the music, and quit harshing on people when you're not in a mosh pit.

Most emo's and 'punk-emos' nowadays are fucking posers who have no respect for punk and emo's history. Punk and emo have theirown tapestry of cultural and musical history that is shit upon by trendy middleschoolers and disney and MTV and magazines, and.....well.....just about goddamned everything!

The Sex Pistols changed a generation! The Ramones kept the love on flowing through America while the Sex Pistols were in the UK. But now punk ceases to exist. The spirit is alive, but as far as the public is concerned, it is dead, or poser.

Sunny Day Real Estate was an AWESOME emo band in the 80's. But now, we get mcr, blink182, falloutboy, and many, many other mistakes of music.

FUCK emo. It SHOULDN'T be about being sad. Fuck being sad. Why cry about the bleak future and horrid deaths ahead of us when we can soak up the now? Have fun and love while you can, before war kills the shit out of everything we hold dear....

Some people have big hearts. I have a big penis.

Punk died a long time ago. There is no such thing as hardcore punks anymore, just arrogant assholes.

The only punk I enjoy listening to is OI! and The Original Wave of British Punk, which is like, "The Clash".

When you say "punk" are you referring to the original punk scene or this watered-down modern rubbish?

Either way I'd choose neither, but if I had a gun to my head I'd choose old-school punk.

How about I just be myself (something I'm pretty sure I excel at) rather than labeling myself as a social minority just to impress people I don't even know? Nah, that's obviously too hard. I guess I'll be a sissy emo since I'm not "hard core" enough to be a punk.

Peer pressure's a bitch, isn't it?

I hate labels in general.

You are who you are, you don't have to fucking fit in with the crowd all the time, you can do your own thing, or as Fleetwood Mac would say, "You Can Go Your Own Way".

And really, those two labels? I don't see why anyone would want to be an attention whore about hurting themselves or being "Hardcore". Honestly, I don't mind if people cut themselves, but if you do, keep it to yourself. The world doesn't need to know.

I write poetry, wear skinny jeans, paint my nails black, listen to Superchunk and Rites of Spring, store razors on the insides of my wristbands, can't stand skater asswipes, tlk to almost nobody at school, dislike social gatherings, am stuck in the past, and am probably going to carve words into my legs tonight when sleep fails to find me like it usually does.

Neither really, both stand out about as much as a biscuit.
I'd rather not put myself into a catagory and become a conforming fuck.
But if i have to choose....I'd lean towards punk.
Because no one is below an emo.

Lol, reminds me of Good Charlotte:

This critics and these trust fund kids
Try to tell me what punk is
But when I see them on the streets
They got nothin to say

That part always makes me laugh. Fuckin Good Charlotte.

Anyway, I prefer Punk. It's way cooler than emo.
