Dreamcast being semi-revived?

The Playstation cannot kill this underground beast.

Not to mention independent developers STILL making Dreamcast games. Is it only a matter of time till Sega gets back in the game with the big boys? (btw I am SOOO buying a Dreamcast now that I'm old enough to understand it's awesomeness)

I think it's too late for sega to get back in the game, and they can't invest as much as sony or ms. So I wouldn't get my hopes up. BUT WHO KNOWS??? :O

There have been so many stories like this that have been proven to be fault. SEGA even said in fairly recent interview, that they only plan to focus on developing software.

I know they won't make a new dreamcast or even begin production on a single console. The Dreamcast was shittty the only good thing about it was the name. I sold my off just like every other console I had before the PS2.

Dreamcast was shitty? WTF?. The dreamcast is one of the most under rated systems out there. The only reason why it did as bad as it did because sega released SOOOO many bad systems, that no one gave it a chance.

Which make sense because SEGA CD, Sega 32x, Sega Saturn were so bad, I ALMOST didn't buy one.

It was, IMO, the first system to succesfully do online play and FREE.
Between out trigger, phantasy star online, ALL the Sports 2k games.

You can't tell me you power stone series, marvel vs capcon series, street fighter etc was not great. They were ALOT of great games, just that was around same time N 64 and playstation was around.

I just felt sorry for sega developers to FINALLY do something right, but just too late. In any event, they can not compete in the console war any more, so best to just focus on software and game development.

Ya, a lot of people forget that the Dreamcast is what started the online play concept for consoles.

Sony had the superior marketing strategy and was just able to get there name out there more then SEGA was when it came to dreamcast vs. playstation.

I don't think Sega have the power to make any measurable impact on the market at this time. Sony and MS are already giving Nintendo a run for their money. The only company out there that may have a shot in my opinion would be Apple (at a long shot). It also wouldn't surprise me to see a Google console. Back on topic if the Dreamcast did come back i for one would get involved as the original rocked.
