I was talking to my teacher in school, and he just happened to be a war veteran, he informed me that while on base camp, he attended church as much as possible. And i asked what religion, he replied "christian".......my next words were "Isn't thou shall not kill one of the ten commandments?". So he wrote me up for "Disrespecting" him......lolz.

I wouldn't say it's funny. He served his country and fought for it. Region may give him peace of mind, but his homeland gives his body peace. Nothing wrong with fighting for both. War is started more due to religion than anything else remember.

The fact is, if he practices good moral Christian beliefs then why ridicule him? For all you know, he might feel complete absolute disgust for any killing he may have done and prays everyday for the souls he helped destroy. I'd say you did disrespect him too.
