"Armed" man arrested on plane 2004-01-14 14:06:58 Reply

A man was arrested on a plane he was traveling from Dallas to Heathrow On terroism charges... he somehow managed to sneek 5 bullets!! past securaty and onto the flight during the flight a flight attendant saw the bullets and as soon as the flight landed the man was arrested intially for Firearms offences however later was arrested under section 41 of the terroist act...

the thing I don't get is the man had bullets but no gun. how excatley did he plan to hijack the flight? Drive the bullets into pepoles skull with his hands? and they waited for the plane to land before arresting him... hmm call me old fashioned but isn't it customry to hijack a plane while it is in the air?

the most ironic and embarrising fact about this is that Dallas is supposedley the most secure airport in the world yet they let him slip... even after all these millions if not billions of dollars have been spent on the war on terror.

I dunno maybe im too trusting but it seems that the whole world has gone a tad terrorist crazy. It seems more likely that the flight would be hijacked by a person with a lighter seeing as those are permissable on flights.

Dammit, I wanted to post a thread about this and you beat me!

Ah well, what I really like about this situation is how stupid it makes the US look. They are the most paranoid country in the world and demand that every plane that flies to the US has armed security on board, yet they fail to catch this guy that travels FROM the US to London, while the security gaurds in London catch him very easily.

Paranoia is one thing, competence is another.

Yes. I admit myself to laughing uncontrollably at the stupidity of the world's greatesat nation sometimes.

I'm surprised how many people are critical of this. Am I the only one who finds a man carrying bullets onto an airplane suspicious? The only stupidity I see here is the guy bringing the bullets onto the plane and the security that failed to realize he had them on him before he boarded the flight.

Probably. It's not the bullet that kills, it's the fact that it rips through you at 500kph and comes out the other side.

But why would a man of even sub-par intelligence want to bring bullets onto an American airplane? Anyone with an IQ that exceeds 70 knows that Americans are concerned about the security on their airliners and that the security at airports don’t take shit from anybody. No one should be carrying bullets with them unless they have a reason and when you have them you at an airport it’s VERY suspicious. I would have much rather have those security guards apprehend that man than just let him browse freely through the terminal with bullets just because “we didn’t see a gun on him to go with those bullets”.

Yes, conceded. I do wonder why someone would want a gun with no bullets.

Well, it's theoretically possible that he was on his way to get a gun or he had one stashed somewhere outside the airport. Just an assumption.

LOL I bet he thought they sold guns on the air hostess' trolley. But he knew how much the darn bullets would cost.

Yeah, that is rather stupid. However, when you make stupid decisions (like bringing bullets on an airplane), you should suffer stupid consequences.

Prision is not a 'stupid' consequence.

For those of you who are saying how incompetent the airport must have been to let them get by, have you any idea how hard it is to make sure people aren't carrying anything? Obviously not.

Thats the exact reason that we NEED armed security officers.

What? So people can't bring harmless shaped pieces of metal onto a plane? Guns, no, but a bullet is harmless.

And there isnt a chance in hell that another person was going to sneak an unloaded gun on to the same flight.

He broke the fucking Law, so he ought to be held accountable for what he did.

I agree, it's not like there may have been another person onboard with the gun to go with those bullets. We all know terrorists don't operate in groups -- 9/11 was all done by ONE MAN.

Meh!

Maybe he wanted to sneak them into an unpressurized area of the plane so they would've blown up or something in that area. Dunno, the man must've had a reason, no?
