3.80 / 5.00 4,200 Viewsis it weird? I know a handshake is casual and you don't hug women when you first meet them, but is a handshake sort of strange if a man offers a woman one? I get the impression that it's a little weird, but I really can't help it. I feel more like a goof if I just stand their and wave in a conversation when I first meet them. Is it normal and am I just imagining things?
I usually give them a small wave and say "Oh hello" or "Nice to meet you".
I try not to shake anyone's hand but then when they reach out their hand, I feel forced to actually shake hands. Why does society feel threatened when you don't want to touch someone else's fucking hand?
This too will pass.

Talk? To a women? I always thought they were for sandwiches...
Actually, in all honesty, I don't find it that awkward. It's just like shaking hands with a man, only his dick has grown, multiplied, and moved upwards.
I do it all the time. It just makes sense.
If only being a gentlemen was still in style....I guess my mother raised me to be courteous and chivalrous for nothing then. What a downer.

How fucking insecure must you be to not want to shake someone's hand because it means touching them?
BBS Mod, PM me if you have something to report.
Thanks to Spartan204 for making my sig <:

Apparently as insecure as I currently am or maybe a little less insecure.
This too will pass.

Normally when i meet girls, i dont give a handshake, i normally smile and they smile back. Or i give them a dap, or a five or whatever you want to call it. Basically an informal version of a handshake. When i say bye, i always give them a hug, or at least another dap.

WOW! Sorry, that just SCREAMS that you're lonely.
I either say 'Hey', or shake hands. I mean, i prefer not to shake hands most of the time. Feels weird, i think.

I guess it's just a bit odd to me really. I mean, once you get to like 12-13 and you're meeting a lot of new people and there's hormones everywhere and puberty kicking in, it's normal to be scared of touching people, but once everything settles down I can't see why people end up so reclusive.
Trying to overcome said insecurity would do wonders for your confidence and overall mental health, in my opinion.

Why do you feel threatened when someone wants to shake your hand?
You don't shake hands, you doff your hat, or, if unhatted, you bow. I recommend reading The Chap periodical, it'll transform your life.
At once to profit and delight mankind,
And with the pleasing have th' instructive joined.
Sometimes I do, but usually they offer to first.

Why do people care so much I hate touching anyone else's hand?
This too will pass.

Wow, that really made me laugh.
You guys are all real swell.

Depends on your culture. In mine, women are greeted with a kiss on each cheek, be they greeted by a man or a woman.
Men greet each other with handshakes, hugs or a combination of a hug and a kiss on the cheek, according to what level of respect you're on with the man.
Greeting a woman with a handhsake is an enormous faux-pas here.
Smile and say hello dipshit. Like a normal person would.
And be confident, Chicks dig confidence.
Don't try and shake their hand either...It's a little too formal in an otherwise informal situation. You'd look like a tool.
1. Smile
2. Say hi if she hasn't already.
3. Don't look at the ground or at her boobs. Eye contact man. EYE CONTACT!
well i have given girls handshacks before, it's always awkward for me cause i'm expecting something that doesn't feel like a feather wrapping around my hand.
forgive me if my sig is wrong

I do this too, it just seems too awkward to give them a handshake.

Because it's a fucking insult you idiot.
For my next trick, I will need a condom and a volunteer.

I don't usually shake hands with women, I usually just say hi, or I give a small wave. At that point the greeting stage is over and we begin a conversation.
Say hello. Hug goodbye. Almost no exceptions. If you make a decent impression, it's alright.
It's a little weird shaking hands with a girl, but I can't see much wrong with it. That is, other than when they grab your outstretched hand, pull you to them and hug you. It puts me off balance and I almost deck it 90% of the time.
The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls.
well, i was forced to take a class on this a couple of times and they always said that the girl is the one to offer her hand for the handshake not the guy.
Well, in a casual situation, I think a wave and a "hello" is good enough. In a business environment a handshake is better..
