So, I'm thinking about getting into flash. Only problem is I have 0 knowledge on the subject. By zero I mean dead zero. How long do you think it would take to learn enough to make a decent movie?
I'm not even sure what program to use, so any help would be appreciated.

It really varies on the person. But only one way to find out, am I right?
You'll want Flash CS4 30-Day Trial.

How long is a piece of string?
The hours you spend per day learning, the quicker you'll pick it up... Also, Adobe Flash CS4 is the newest and best version.

It depends. If you're an artist, your learning time is cut in half. If you have experience in animation, the time is cut in half again. If you're just making a movie, you don't need to learn a lot; the interface is pretty simple and easy to learn. I used Flash 8 and I find it easier to use than Flash CS4 if you just plan on making movies. If you are going to get into games, by all means get CS3 or CS4.

Let's say I spend an hour a day learning, how long would it take?

17 days.
That's a definitive answer. There's no other criteria to consider (such as natural ability, intelligence, what you're actually learning, how you define "learned" and "decent" etc). An hour day will see you mastering Flash in 17 days.

There are so many factors involved it's not actually possible to give a definite answer. One hour a day for a few months would probably make you good enough to do pretty good animations (portal score of 3 and a bit above), but nothing is for sure.
